Complications From Appendix Surgery Posted: 09-09-07 10:01am
I've searched high and low on the internet
and it seems its just me who has had the
same complication from appendix surgery.
I had my appendix removed one and a half
weeks ago, i was released from hospital 3
days later. I was really bad beforehand,
had bad diahroea, stomach pains, fever and
just generally felt run down. I feel fine
now, just the bruising and swelling. Looks
like I have a golf ball coming out of my
side. I can walk fine but the fact the my
wound looks like a small golf ball worries
me.
The bruising goes all the way down to my
penis. I'm more worried about the
collection of blood in my scrotum. The
area from my scar down to my penis is
pretty bruised but it worries my that
there is blood in my scrotum and around
the base of my penis. Surely this isnt
normal? I'm not getting any pain as such.
My doc seems to think its a hematoma,
which I believe is internal bleeding? This
would somewhat explain the collection of
blood in my scrotum. Is it nomal just for
it to sit there in my scrotum tho? its not
doing any damage to the organ is it? and
is it ok to continue sexual acttivity? My
doc seems to think as im feeling fine, no
vomiting and fever that the bleeding has
stopped. And that the wound isnt getting
any bigger everything is normal.
How long would you say until the blood is
absorbed back into the body? as its not
very pretty having just a collection of
blood just sitting there. Anything i can
do to speed it up?
Thanks in advance.

Same issue, What were your results Posted: 04-28-08 14:03pm
I've had a similar situation. Two weeks
ago today, I was diagnosed with
appendicitis and had it removed. Post-Op
I had swelling in my abdomen and about a
day/day and a half later, a VERY large
bruise began to appear on my abdomen.
This then spread south to include my
(right side) scrotum and underside of my
penis. At two week post-op, the area is
still very tender and quite bruised. I'm
curious how long I should expect this to
last. I have a follow visit with my
surgeon (yes, he indicated I had some
post-operative bleeding internally) next
week but am hoping this should clear up
somewhat sooner than 3 full weeks.
