Decreasing the Water In Stool
Posted: 09-09-07 15:07pm

After fistula surgery left me with a deficiency I find my biggest issue these days is watery stools. This is probably my normal state and was ok before my sphincter was damaged. I visited Google and saw the Bristol_Stool_Chart, my typical stool would be the wateriest, a 7.

I usually have a high fiber diet which I'm beginning to understand is contributing to my problem. What and how can I eat to minimize this? I don't eat milk or cheese products of any kind, usually stay away from processed foods and don't usually eat in restaurants. I do have a weakness for coffee, and I'm thinking that might be part of the problem. Probably 3 cups a day on avg.

Pls help. It's quite limiting.

Bananas, Rice, Applesauce and toast are the foods reccommended by physicians for diarrhea. (BRAT Diet). Also yogurt with active cultures might help. I am not sureif this would help in your case. There is also a prescription medication called Cholestyramine which might help, but you would have to ask your doc if it's OK for you.
