Unusually Long Period on Lutera Posted: 09-09-07 22:36pm
I've been on lutera for a month now. Just
started my second pack this evening. I
started my first period on birth control
on Tuesday. My period is still not over.
Before it would last anywhere from 3-5
days, but hasn't lasted this long in a
very long time. Is it just that my body is
adjusting to the pill? I really like this
one and do not want to switch, is this
normal for my first period on birth
control to last this long?

Yes, it might take a few months for your
period to regulate. You'll just have to
wait it out.
And switching wouldn't help, as you would
probably have the same thing if you
switched to another pill.

Generally I think if you're bleeding for a
month straight you should probably call
your doc, just to make sure you aren't
losing too much blood.

Yeah, I don't have a high tolerance for
lots of bleeding. Unfortunately, if you
switch to a different pill, you might have
the same experience, so it might be worth
sticking it out if that's what the doc
said to do.

It should be, but in the beginning your
body is still getting the hormones sorted
out.
That does seem extreme though. I hope next
month goes better for you. Don't be
surprised if you get some bleeding within
this placebo week.
