HIV/AIDS Variability of the Virus and False Negative Result? Posted: 09-10-07 12:13pm
I came to know about one of the
limitations of elisa essays which is that
the variability of the virus may give a
false negative result. If we assume that
someone is infected and due to the said
limitation, someone has a false negative
result for the test 3 months after
exposure. Will the result be again a false
negative one after six months?

When the doctor does testing, he catches
98% of the people who would be infected in
the first test. There is a 2% of people
who take longer than three months to show
HIV. They take six months. They are
called slow progressors. Mbae six months,
the test should be accurate enough.
That is why I recommend two test results
taken three month apart for a really
concrete result.
During the waiting time, one should not
put themselves in risky behaviour.
