Abdomenal Twitches
Posted: 03-23-04 04:59am

I am 46 and have been in menopause for 7 months. Recently I started have twitches inside the area of my lower abdomen near my pubic hair. It happens very sporadically and is not painful. It feels like when you have a muscle twitch in your arm. I may get it once a week and it will continue for an hour or so. Did anyone else ever get this or hear about it? I scheduled an exam for april 1.

Whew! Glad to hear someone else has it. When it first started, it felt like a fluttering in the beginning of a pregnancy so I rushed out to get a pregnancy test which was negative. I wondered if it is because the uterus is not functioning any longer and is going into these muscle flutters??? I'll let you know what the doctor says.

Im only 28 and I don't think I could be starting menopause, but I am having these flutters. I am not pregnant and i'm wondering if this is something that I should have checked out or is it even big enough to worry about?

Well, it is now nov. 05 and I had forgotten I posted this question. Fortunately, the twitches stopped. I never did find out what they were.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

I'm 47. I am having these flutters as well. Mine one starts at the chest and then it sprays to the abdomen, hands and legs. I describe it as "blowing bubbles like" and is noisy. No one understand what i'm talking about.

What kind of doctor that you're going to see? I rang up the women's hospital said I need to see a menopause specialist. They asked few questions then booked me in for a gynecology. Is it the right one?

Stomach Fluttering

Hi everyone, i'm new on this site. I'm 58 and had a partial hysterectomy 20 years ago. I also have the same feeling of movement in my stomach for the last 3 months. Has anyone found out what may be causing this? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

Ab Twitches
Posted: 02-20-06 01:31am

Interesting. These twitches don't seem to be age discriminate. And with 2 ladies each having a hysterectomy 20 years prior, that should knock out the menopausal theory. I am 36 and have been feeling the fluttering. Before running out to get a pregnancy test and spending money unnecessarily, I thought i'd look online first. However, many have the fluttering, but no one has the answer (yet). Pregnancy is unlikely for me due to vasectomy, and few opportunities. So i'm at a loss. This is the only site i've found with anything close to these ab twitches. Anyone else have any luck finding info? :?

I am so glad hear that I am not the only one with these flutters. I have them right now and I am trying to find out why this is happening.

They are sorta like the flutters you have during early pregnancy, but I am not pregnant.

I am 30 and I have pretty regular periods. I am late now about 2 weeks but I know for a fact that I am not pregnant. My periods are late whenever I have drama and this time it was a yeast infection.

This happened last month but I cannot remember what was going on at that time.

I am very curious. I think I am going to email my doctor to ask about it, but it feels good to know that I am not the only one.

I am new to this forum. But I totally relate to "prettyandhealthy". I am also 30 and definetly not pregnant. I had a tubal ligation. But last week I started experiencing flutters that feel like early pregnancy. I am really freaked out because I don't know what's causing it. Has anyone found out what is causing these abdominal flutters? I don't have the extra money to go find out, and when I called my ob\gyn, she had no idea and kind of acted like I was crazy.

I had a yeast infection as well before the abdominal twitches. I though was a pregnancy as well. Period was irregular but end up was not a pregnancy. Now my tummy is blowing up like a six month pregnant! Menopause test came back fall in the category of "post menopause". The test was done during my 3rd day of period. I only suspected would be perimenopause but was post menopause!

Hi, i'm 42 years old and had a tubal ligation almost 10 years ago. For the past month or so I have been experiencing flutters in my stomach which have been coming more often and now everyday. I actually took a pregnancy test which showed negative. The feelings in my stomach feel exactly like the fluttering of pregnancy (i've have 3 children).

I don't know what else it could be. It's not in the same spot everytime. It bounces like a baby and i've even felt the flutters with my hand while experiencing it. My periods are down to every 25 days and heavier then ever. I'm going to make an appointment with the gyno. I know that I have fibroids in my uterus and cysts on my ovaries. Has anyone else found out what this may be?

Fluttering In Abdomen
Posted: 05-30-06 03:23am

Hi all
i too have experienced a fluttering in abdomen, on lower left quadrant, often thought it was wind, but more recently it has become quite 'violent'.
It can be visually seen as well as felt.
I am 45, had a total hysterectomy 13yrs ago and have been on 100grms estraderm ever since.
Can anyone give insight into this weird sensation.
Most people think it is all in the mind, but something visible and felt is most definitely not.

Abdomen Flutters
Posted: 10-24-06 16:53pm

I am 43 years old and I don't think I am close to menopause yet but I have been experiencing abdomen flutters for about a week now. I knew I was not pregnant because my partner and I are using methods to deter that. My flutters are on the left side at the top of my abdomen and you can actually see the skin move as if a baby were in there. If any body know what this is please let me know. This kind of scary. This is the only site that talks anywhere close to what is going on.

I am 44 and had a hysterectomy 21 years ago. I had a violent history of female issues with several surgeries. Started feeling these "flutters" about 3 weeks ago. Feels like baby movement. NOT! Anybody ever get any official answers to cause. Really is annoying! Confused Confused
