ok, i'm getting excited again! the wedding
is one month from tomorrow (4 weeks from
saturday). i seriously can't wait to show
you guys pictures!
i needed a strapless bra and since i'm
quite chesty i needed a corset style one
to give me the support i need. well, we
had a heck of a time finding anything that
offered any support so i ended up with the
ugliest get up ever! it's practically a
pantsuit and a crotchless one at that!
lol, when i told nick he said "erm...
aren't all bras crotchless?" it's so
embarrassing, not exactly the wedding
lingerie you envision... it's nude colored
and it's supposed to make me "look 10
pounds lighter in seconds", it's like a
knee length spandex suit. ugh.
my mom and i went and ordered the flowers
the other day. they're gorgeous and i'm
pleased to say we went away from the norm
and there's not a single rose in the
bunch. i was planning on doing pink
everything but changed my mind since it's
going to be fall and my hair is going to
be a plummy shade. now the flowers are all
shades of fuchsia, orange, deep purple,
and greenery.
i'm having some issues with the readings.
first, choosing them is tough because i'm
just googling and there are so many to
choose from. i did pick this one, let me
know what you think-
Love,
trust, and forgiveness are the foundations
of marriage. In marriage, many days will
bring happiness, while other days may be
sad. But together, two hearts can overcome
everything...In marriage, all of the
moments won't be exciting or romantic, and
sometimes worries and anxiety will be
overwhelming. But together, two hearts
that accept will find comfort together.
Recollections of past joys, pains, and
shared feelings will be the glue that
holds everything together during even the
worst and most insecure moments. Reaching
out to each other as a friend, and
becoming the confidant and companion that
the other one needs, is the true magic and
beauty of any two people together. It's
inspiring in each other a dream or a
feeling, and having faith in each other
and not giving up... even when all the
odds say to quit. It's allowing each other
to be vulnerable, to be himself or
herself, even when the opinions or
thoughts aren't in total agreement or
exactly what you'd like them to be. It's
getting involved and showing interest in
each other, really listening and being
available, the way any best friend should
be. Exactly three things need to be
remembered in a marriage if it is to be a
mutual bond of sharing, caring, and loving
throughout life: love, trust, and
forgiveness.
second, i can't get anyone to do the
readings. i asked my younger brother, who
is my best friend, he said he's too shy
(which is crap, he's quite the showboat).
i asked his boyfriend, who is going to nyu
for his masters in poetry, if he'd whip
something up and read it, he also said
he's too shy. there aren't a lot of guests
to choose from so i guess i'm going to ask
my sister-in-law to read the one above,
even though we are not at all close. then
maybe ask nick's sister to read another,
if i can find one. i'm not really big on
the readings but we need something to draw
the short ceremony out. please share if
you have something good!
and i got finn his first pair of shoes! he
got black converse for the wedding. he's
never worn shoes so he acts all weird when
they're on but they are so tiny and cute.
here he is modeling them!
that's it! i'm just excited!

Ooh yay, converse!! I <3 converse! Rock
it out, Finn!
I'm sorry to hear about your crotchless
suit thing. Is it
one of those Spanx things? Your flowers
sound so pretty! Do you remember what kind
they were?
I looooooooooove that reading is there any way
your other brother could do the reading?
The one that had the baby?

I have always liked this verse. (You know
I am a buddhist, but we did have this one
read at our wedding)
1 Corinthians
4 Love is patient; love is kind; love is
not envious or boastful or arrogant 5or
rude. It does not insist on its own way;
it is not irritable or resentful; 6it does
not rejoice in wrongdoing, but rejoices in
the truth. 7It bears all things, believes
all things, hopes all things, endures all
things.
8 Love never ends. But as for
prophecies, they will come to an end; as
for tongues, they will cease; as for
knowledge, it will come to an end. 9For we
know only in part, and we prophesy only in
part; 10but when the complete comes, the
partial will come to an end. 11When I was
a child, I spoke like a child, I thought
like a child, I reasoned like a child;
when I became an adult, I put an end to
childish ways. 12For now we see in a
mirror, dimly,b but then we will see face
to face. Now I know only in part; then I
will know fully, even as I have been fully
known. 13And now faith, hope, and love
abide, these three; and the greatest of
these is love.
Looking back, I am not sure if we had the
whole thing read or not.
Here's an idea, why don't you guys have
your parents do the readings? Just a
thought.
I love the colors for your flowers, i am
sure they will be stunning! I didn't use
roses either. My flowers were all white
with lots of Ivy. Mostly I used calla
lillies (my mom didn't like it, she said
it felt like she was at a funeral! LOL)

Song of Solomon – Chapter 8:6-7
6. Place me like a seal over your heart,
like a seal on your arm; for love is as
strong as death, its jealousy unyielding
as the grave. It burns like a blazing
fire, like a mighty flame.
7. Many waters cannot quench love; rivers
cannot wash it away. If one were to give
all the wealth of his house for love, it
would be utterly scorned.
This is another verse. If you don't want
bible cverses, though let me know. I have
other ideas.

laura, i guess it's like a spanx suit. i
do like the idea of smoothing everything
out since i'm feeling pretty chunky right
now.
i don't remember the name of all the
flowers, but the main focus is going to be
orange gerbera daisies. those are going to
be the main part of my bouquet, nick's
boutinere (sp), and covering the arch that
will be behind us. then there are fuchsia
mini-carnations (also going to be on the
arch), orange-yellow mini-mums (i think),
deep purple somethings, and this pretty
bright green leafy stuff, and regular
greenery. i didn't realize i'd be
designing my own bouquet, i kind of
thought i'd pick something out of a book
or something, so i'm very happy with this.
heather, i was trying to stay away from
bible verses but i do really like that
corinthians one. i don't think i'd use the
whole thing but i also don't know where
i'd end it. i'll definitely keep that one
in mind. thanks!

Here are some secular poems that I really
like:
Eskimo Love Song
You are my husband, you are my wife
My feet shall run because of you
My feet dance because of you
My heart shall beat because of you
My eyes see because of you
My mind thinks because of you
And I shall love, because of you
Why Marriage? by Mari Nichols
Because to the depths of me, I long to
love one person,
With all my heart, my soul, my mind, my
body...
Because I need a forever friend to trust
with the intimacies of me,
Who won't hold them against me,
Who loves me when I'm unlikable,
Who sees the small child in me, and
Who looks for the divine potential of
me...
Because I need to cuddle in the warmth of
the night
With someone who thanks God for me,
With someone I feel blessed to hold...
Because marriage means opportunity
To grow in love in friendship...
Because marriage is a discipline
To be added to a list of achievements...
Because marriages do not fail, people
fail
When they enter into marriage
Expecting another to make them whole...
Because, knowing this,
I promise myself to take full
responsibility
For my spiritual, mental and physical
wholeness
I create me,
I take half of the responsibility for my
marriage
Together we create our marriage...
Because with this understanding
The possibilities are limitless.
Hamlet by William Shakespeare
Doubt thou the stars are fire;
Doubt that the sun doth move;
Doubt truth to be a liar;
But never doubt I love.
Sonnet 116, William Shakespeare
Let me not to the marriage of true minds
admit impediments. Love is not love
which alters when it alteration finds,
or bends with the remover to remove:
Oh, no! It is an ever-fixed mark.
That looks on tempests and is never
shaken;
it is the star to every wandering bark,
whose worth's unknown, although his height
be taken.
Love's not Time's fool, though rosy lips
and cheeks
within his bending sickle's compass come;
love alters not with his brief hours and
weeks,
but bears it out even to the edge of
doom.
If this be error and upon me proved,
I never writ, nor no man ever loved.
The Passionate Shepherd to His Love by
Christopher Marlowe
Come live with me and be my love,
And we will all the pleasures prove
That valleys, groves, hills, and fields,
Woods or steepy mountain yields.
And we will sit upon the rocks,
Seeing the shepherds feed their flocks,
By shallow rivers to whose falls
Melodious birds sing madrigals.
And I will make thee beds of roses
And a thousand fragrant posies,
A cap of flowers, and a kirtle
Embroidered all with leaves of myrtle;
A gown made of the finest wool
Which from our pretty lambs we pull;
Fair lined slippers for the cold,
With buckles of the purest gold;
A belt of straw and ivy buds,
With coral clasps and amber studs:
And if these pleasures may thee move,
Come live with me and be my love.
The shepherds' swains shall dance and
sing
For thy delight each May morning:
If these delights thy mind may move,
Then live with me and be my love.

thanks heather! i'll need to give those a
good read when finn isn't climbing all
over me trying to grab the keyboard.
i forgot to mention, not that anyone
cares, but my bouquet stems will be
wrapped in deep purple satin and nick is
wearing a matching tie.
i hope everything looks as good in real
life as it looks in my head.
