My Medical Abortion Experience at 9 weeks

I have recently had the abortion pill (16 days ago ) and it has been a long and very difficult process. I am in the U.K and through the National Health Service this is the only option offered. Private abortions start at about £500. I had to visit the hospital 3 times before the final pill, on the day I was there for 7 hours in unbelievable pain. I was drugged to the eyeballs but screamed many times.

My problem is that the abortion was not complete. I had passed the foetus but not all the surrounding tissue. I have been back to the hospital for 2 ultrasound scans and today I was booked for surgery to have the remaining products sucked out, but just before (literally..I was in a gown with wristband on) another consultant came and said I shouldn't have surgery.This is because I have strepp B bacteria present and this could cause an infection, this meant in surgery I could have a high chance of hemorrhaging. Now I am on 2 types of antibiotics and am due for another ultrasound scan in 3 days

This has been an extremely stressful process and still isn't over. I know I made the right decision to end the pregnancy but the surgical abortion sounds less complicated and stressful. I'm sure some woman take the abortion pill without such problems but I also know that what is happening to me is not uncommon. If Doctors are opting for the medical abortion as they think it's less of a demand on hospital resources perhaps they should take into account all the problems afterwards....
