Been Feeling Depressed Latly Posted: 09-13-07 14:37pm
Hi I'm Jesse and am 17 years old. Latly
I've been feeling really sad and out of
everything completly while I'm in school.
Some days I'll show up happy then as the
day goes on I feel worse and worse to the
point that my face hurts,I won't talk to
anyone even my closet friends, and no
matter what I do I can't seem to put a
smile on my face or be happy. Most my
classes I'm surrounded by people that I
know and wanna to chat with but this
depression has made me so sad that I'm
always just ignoring them most of the time
when they speak to me. I'll try to list
some info about me that might help solve
my issue.
Sleep: 6-7 hours a night
food/drinks: Drink a lot of pop and energy
drinks during school or in the morning
which gives me a ton of energy but results
in me crashing an hour later. Decent
ammount of water. For food I usually eat
everything that I need besides fruit which
we don't have much of. mornings I don't
get breakfest much cause I'm not hungry.
snacks usually just chips.
Depression symptoms: During the day my
face will hurt a lot I don't know if this
is caused by stress but the area kinda
below my eyes / above my cheeks feel
tightened during the day... Sad and
nothing seems to cheer me up (
hugs,jokes,being around happy ppl)
nothing...
Activitys: Usually on my computer most of
the day where I'm most happy at.
exercise: non really
weight/height : about 140 pounds 5"10
Well there's some info if you would like
to ask me more questions or give me
suggestions on what might be causing these
issues please help.

Try doing a little exercise daily. I'm not
saying go pump iron like Ahhh-nold at the
gym but try going for a long walk/jog.
Sometimes exercising will release
endorphins into your bloodstream which
makes you feel happy.
Did something happen that greatly effected
your life in some way? Like a break up,
parents splitting, etc?
You might need to speak with your parents
about putting you in therapy. There's
nothing wrong with it. Maybe depression
medication would work.

My life has been going fine no break ups
or drama of any kind. I just feel sad all
the time for no aparent reason and don't
know why.

Ok then I would consider exercise.
Sunlight has a lot to do with happiness
too. It's recommended that you get 15
minutes of sun exposure a day. I'm not
sure about the science behind that, it has
something to do with melanin (the pigment
that gives people tan).
Keep me informed. I will try to help as
much as possible.

I agree with Marianne, you need to go out
and walk for a good 20 minutes 3-4 times a
week. Get some fresh air and sunlight. You
also need to start eating better and
healthier meals. Fruits instead of
chips.....How long have ytou been having
htese "sad" days"? Depression is not
something that jsut goes away. Lots of
people have good dauys and bad days, but
for people like me, its a chemical
imbalance in the brain. Sometimes you have
to go to see a therapist/Doctor who
specailizes in Depression. I would suggest
being as young as you are, to do the above
things as Marianne suggested first. Also,
maybe take on a new hobby or volunteer at
an animal shelter. You'd be amazed at how
the sad feelings disappear when it comes
to helping or loving on something that
needs you!

I worked in an animal shelter right before
I found out I was pregnant! (I had to quit
because they put me in dangerous
situations for a pregnant woman).
It was the best feeling in the world
helping unwanted pets find new, loving
homes!
You get to see some crazy shitnit too!!!
i.e 5-legged dogs, skinned bobcats, LOTS
of things. Neat to learn.

I would go into dog rescue, except I live
in an apartment. There's barely room for
my own dog We
are looking to move into a house when the
lease is up in April. One with a big yard
for the baby and dog. I will look into
that, I've always wondered about it
