Nuva Ring Placement
Posted: 09-14-07 11:41am

I have been on the nuva ring for about 2 weeks. Everything that I have read says that it does not matter where it is placed and your muscles will keep it in place. The problem is that mine starts to stick out, and I actually have to push it back in. If I push it up as far as I can it just comes right back down and I can always feel it. Does anyone else have this problem? I have talked to a friend of mine that has it to make sure that I am putting it in right, and I have followed the directions exactly. One other thing is that I have a lot of discharge that started when I got on the ring, Is this also a normal side effect?

A lot of discharge is normal. And no, it doesn't matter where in your vagina it is, as long as it doesn't fall out. The hormones are absorbed no matter where it is in your vagina. It doesn't have to be in really deep, although it might be more comfortable for you if it is in deep because you probably won't feel it.

Really, if it's in there anywhere, and the ring has expanded (like bounced out to a circular shape like it does) than your vaginal muscles should hold it in. If it is actually falling out, you will probably want to see your doc about it. You might have a problem with the muscle tension in your vagina.

I had it for a while and never had a problem with mine slipping out unless I was having sex or using tampons. If pushing it up as far as you can doesn't work, I'd see the doc. There's no magic trick to it or anything, it is really simple.
