Tugging At My Heart

Well, I've got an ad in the paper because we have to find my cat a new home. He's 9 1/2 years old, and I've had him since he was 8 weeks old. I don't trust him around little kids at all, although he has mellowed out 500% in the past 3 or 4 years. There are a few reasons I'm looking for a new home for him, and I know it's the best option. But now someone has replied and they want to know all about him. So I'm trying to type up a summary of 9 years together....it's super hard to do. I've had him since I was in high school! He was there when I first moved out on my own. Before that we had a house fire at my parents. He lived in that cramped hotel room with us. He's just always been a part of my life and now I have to give him up. Sorry for the rant, it just hurts Crying

I'm so sorry Mandi. I know how it feels to lose a pet. Just tell him what you said to us. You don't know how to sum up 9 years in one paragraph. that you love him, he is a great cat and very sweet but you cannot have him around your child. I hope you find a good home for him.

Im sorry you have to give up your cat. I had to give up my dog when I was younger and it was the hardest thing I ever had to do.

You should just tell him all the good stuff and just ask him if he has small children.

Yeah...I put in the ad he's not good with small children. This woman has a 10 year old daughter. He's fine with the older kids as long as you don't touch his tummy. He's never liked his tummy touched.

Why must life be so unfair?

i didn't know you were giving away your cat! i'm so sorry. as you know, i've been there.

i don't really have any advice for you. it's been months now and i still think about rudy all the time and i miss him, but i know i made the right choice and you are too.

what prompted you to have to find him a new home? you don't have to say if you don't want to.

i'm sorry.

It's been something that's had to be done since Adriana was born. He got a little bit jealous, not too bad. But I don't want him to bite Adriana, as hard as I try to supervise them I can't see him 100% of the time, and as active as Adriana is....it's bound to happen. She falls on him all the time and nothing has happened, and I don't *think* he'll bite her. But it's not just that, he's been wanting out more often and not coming home every night and that worries me. If we were far out in the country it might not bother me so much. But he also deserves more attention. With us each working 2 jobs it's not fair to him. The dogs have each other, but Cynder has ALWAYS been my cat. I've had him since High School. It's just a mixture of reasons why he'd be better off in a new home.
