Neverending Pain, Long Term Migraines ...
Posted: 09-14-07 15:30pm

Looking for HELP.Have been on other forums, little support.Any suggestions, direction.Long term migrainuer.Have had chronic pain for past few years.
My head never stops hurting.Level of pain is never less than 6.I take nuerontin, just started a couple months ago.Only thing it did was add weight.
I take klonopin,I take propanolol for high pulse.I have low bp but high pulse.Effexor.I started having panic attacks....due to hashimoto's thyroiditis.
No insurance anymore.I am to the point of homebound.Local clinic does what it can.But the pain has taken it's toll.I am out of my mind with pain and no end in sight.

Can relate to the headaches...........have an appointment with a new neurologist this coming Monday. Daily headaches and migraine for over 20 years....how long have you been taking the Effexor and it is Effexor XL? Why are you taking the Kolonopin and what is this high Pulse???? Never heard of such. NOt sure where you are, but if you could get on govnemtn assistnat program, I know you could get to a neuro dr who could maybe help you find the root of your problem. Good luck!

I was on effexor XL.When I started it,I had insurance.I trusted my dr.She was so "concerned" about getting on klonopin that when she started me on effexor,I thought she knew what she was doing.I never knew how hard it would be to get off of.I am now down from 150mg Xr to effexor hcl 75mg.But want to get off it all together.I have horrible withdrawls, hallucinations,"drumming sounds in my head" and ringing so loud.
The high pulse I was told is due to my hashimoto's thyroiditis. The klonopin I started after panic attacks started due to thyroid.I had a good neuro. He said if they got my thyroid under control, migraine may go.
My insurance ripped me off.Put my thyroid issue as pre-existing,it wasn't,then eveything I was treated for, they put under thyroid.Even yrly gyn checkup. They stopped paying my dr's or didn't pay any.Lost all my drs.
My husband is self employed, making it hard to get assistance. But I have a clinic I go to that does the best they can.
My high level of pain is getting to me so bad,I no longer have a life.I wish I could be put in somewhere and get it down to a level that I could take.Out of ideas as to what to do.
I'm in western north carolina.
Thanks for response!

A TAR HILL! My Stepfather is from there! You could always say you are separated and living alone and go for a free clinic/helth dept.. Thhre they will base it on your income alone and may could get you in to a neuro. I was on 75 mg of Effexor. I started splitting the things in half over a year ago, so I kind do 37.5 every day now I been on them over 7 years.........I want to get off them too. I had a cerebral aneurysm in 1999, but still suffer from daily headaches. Never did a Kolonopin. I do pop a znnie occasionally for the bad heaches. I am not into Lortab or Hydrocodon...I want to function and not ZOMBIE out...................so sorry about your insuracne situation. Thats total BS

Grandkids Coming Today...so Determined to Enjoy

Thanks for the suggestions. The clinics will refer you,but the nuero still wants his money. If I have to, the next time I go to the er,I'll go the next county over.Especially if I think I'll get admitted. They'll work with you more and it's a much better hospital. If I have to go to the er again,I know they'll admit me,because I'd have to be in that bad of shape to go.
Klonopin is the only thing that helps w/my panic. It's the worst feeling in the world. You really feel like you're going to die. It's a wave of feelings that is so intense.
I just take each day as new as I can. It's very hard sometimes when you wake up to the kind of pain I did today. But I have grandkids coming today and I want to enjoy it.

Hi,
Yes,I am very blessed. And I had an extra blessing,I had a visit from my oldest daughter last night with my other 2 grandchildren.I don't get to see them very much.
So,the weekend will help me get thru the week.I am taking time thruout the day to be still and repeat 4 positve words over and over.I have a sound machine that I like to have on when I do this and I go to sleep with.
Today,I have my lounge chair outside, under an umbrella.I did get alot of cleaning done over the weekend so today I'll take extra time and just sit out there.I make sure I'm in the shade and wear sunscreen,I have a brother that at the age of about 47 was diagnosed with melanoma. He has to go every 3 months for treatments.
I also plan on getting on my treadmill today.Just for 5 minutes. It's good mentally and with our family history....the same brother just had a heart attack about 6 months ago. He's never had a weight problem and has been walking every day, mainly for his wife who gets blood clots in her legs. The doctors said the blockage had to be from genetics.
I drink alot of water,I do carrot juice,I only drink one cup of coffee a day and limit my soda to maybe one small glass a day.
I don't like red meat. And I eat very little chicken.I soon want to cut that out.I have a steamer and need to get back into using that more.
Well, thanks for listening. My pain level is about 6.I'm having nightmares every night.I hope with small changes,I'll change that.

I agree 100% here. I would try every way in you know what to see a neuro. State Medicaid and others are out there. I should know. You need to got to your local Children and Family Services center and apply for some help.
