try eating smaller meals 4 - 5 times a day rather than having 3 regular meals. Don't wear tight-fitting clothes, don't lie down immediately after meals. Try taking aloe vera gel by forever living products. it is useful for digestive problems.

Ginger is very effective for getting rid of gas pains: so that might help. You can get ginger tea, ginger drops, or you can even take it right out of your spice rack and mix it up with some warm water. Taking a vegetarian digestive enzyme will help keep the food moving.

Stay away from high fat foods.

Cut back on alcohol, caffeine, coffee, soda, fried foods, greasy foods, etc.

Do NOT use OTC antacids. Acid reflux or severe heartburn is caused by too LITTLE acid in stomach. Antacids would reduce the necessary acid that is needed to break down your foods.

First, make sure it is not symptomatic of any other more severe disease. See a doctor.

If it is GERD or acid reflux...

Treat naturally and healthfully...

1) Take one capsule of Slippery elm supplement before meal
2) Take one or two chewable tablets of licorice on an empty stomach
3) Take one teaspoon of aloe vera juice or gel before and after a meal

Hope this helps...

Fiber and Grain = No Acidity
Posted: 02-18-08 13:56pm

Hello all. This is my first post on this forum. I have acid reflux, or GIRD (GERD?). I take a Prilosec everyday (ashamedly). But you can reduce your acidity quite easily by having a bowl of grains or high fiber in the morning. Granola and similar cereals really are a big help. Also make sure to drink plenty of milk. When I was growing up (before being diagnosed in adulthood), I wouldn't fall asleep EVER without a tall glass of milk immediately before bed. The high base of milk just wipes out excess acid. And to 1occoli's point, alcohol, caffeine of all kinds, and cigarettes are the WORST things for acid reflux and acidity issues.

I had a lot of eating problems - a 5'6" boy weighing under 110 pounds. And all of a sudden once I started learning about acid reflux, taking medication, and watching my diet, I'm now a plump 140. I guess that's NOT a good thing, depending on how you look at it.

Vitamin Treatment for Heartburn
Posted: 03-01-08 06:18am

I suggest you try taking some vitamins for your heartburn problem, definitely works and very cheap.

Treat heartburn with B vitamins

B vitamins are essential for digestion, therefore very important when suffering for heartburn.
B-12 vitamin prevents and removes bacteria in the stomach which has an effect on the PH level of the stomach which cause heartburn.
B1 vitamin is also very helpful in relieving heartburn symptoms, discomfort and pain.
Vitamin E for heartburn

Vitamin E has an important role in relieving heartburn symptoms since it is an antioxidant.
Vitamin E protects the membranes and the cells from free radicals and provides relief from heartburn.

range peel extract?

What do you think of the orange peel extract regimen, 1 softgel every other day for 20 days and 1 softgel for occasional relief thereafter or as directed by a physician?

For prevention I usually:

1. Don't eat late
2. Stay away from heavily acidic meals like those with lots of tomatoes...
3. Slow down while eating

For treatment:

1. I have tried B Vitamins. This, to me, seems like a longer term solution than a quick fix.

Always open t hearing new ways. Thanks for asking the question Willow

Slowly chew between 6-10 raw almonds when you have heartburn. It will make it go away faster than any antacid out there. And they taste great too. Smile
