Bipolar Disorder: I Miss Being Manic Posted: 09-16-07 15:08pm
Hello,
I was recently diagnosed with bipolar
disorder and life has been kinda strange
since. I came off of a really high manic
episode and since I've been stabalized on
the lithium, I've felt really dull--almost
robotic. I keep thinking of ways to make
myself feel better--smoke some weed or
stop taking the medication. What I want to
know is if this feeling is normal for
those recovering from bipolar? Thank you.

You should never feel as "good" as you did
when you were manic again. The problem we
have is that nothing feels as good as
hypomnaia and if there was a way to stay
in that state we would however it
typically goes to far and the next thing
we know we are doing stupid things. That
being said you should have a normal range
of emotions on medicine. You shouldn't
feel like a robot. I'd talk to your Dr.
to see if your dose is too high. Stay
away from weed it interferes with your
medicine and its only going to make things
worse and whatever you do don't stop
taking medicine cold turkey. The stuff
builds up in your brain over time stopping
it cold turkey will only mess with your
mind.
