Severe Acid Reflux Problem Posted: 09-17-07 01:26am
I‘ve typed you this because it’s hard
for me to speak because I have trouble
breathing, I’ve been sick on and off at
least more then half my life... I was
diagnosed as lactose intolerant and after
I was said to have acid reflux.
I’ve been taking prescription drugs like
Pantoprazole, Ranitidine, Buccastem (Not
together)
But they don’t seem to be working
because I’ve been getting these symptoms
for a week (The longest so far I've had
them)
I stayed in bed for most of it because I
felt extremely weak:
Dehydration
Nausea
Weight loss
Dizziness
Numbness (Some parts of my body ...
example: my fingers or my arms once even
my tongue)
Fatigue (Sometimes I almost black out)
Trouble swallowing
Constant discomfort in the stomach area
Burning (stomach)
Vomiting
Anxiety
Shaking
Trouble Breathing
I would like to have a test using
endoscopy to check to see if I have ulcer,
nothing seems to be stopping my sickness;
I would like to find the problem so it can
be cured. Because of this I haven’t been
able to work or do much of anything. I am
at the point where I don’t know what to
eat or drink anymore.

Man i feel for u only a person who has
gone through acid reflux understands the
problems we face.I am 20 years old male
and since april 2006 i started having acid
reflux problems however i take one pill of
Pantoprazole 40mg once every 2 weeks and
this keeps my acidreflux pretty much in
control and i rarely get a heartburn
however i always feels some degree of
indigestion after eating. so i still am in
better shape than U however when my
symptoms started in April 2006 for one
full week i cudnt eat ne thing literally
and i lost 10KGs in 2 weeks my Blood
pressure got low and i started to become
depress had no energy in body and i just
wanted to die. I also came to the point
where I didn't knew what to eat or drink
anymore. but Thank God i pulled through
that rough couple of months. My point is
don't give up hope u will pull through
this phase too keep to ur head straight
and occupy ur self with as much work and
friends as possible trust me it helps
takes ur mind off ur sickness and the
first step to getting better is not to let
ur sickness dominate u.

i have all the same symptoms as you! it
started out not being able to breath. i
think i'm allergic to the PPI's but they
never really helped much anyways. I had
and endoscopy and it showed multiple
ulcers. I'm always dizzy, and have ear and
jaw pain.
I have the whole throat thing too,
difficulty swallowing and very tight
throat in front. I'm getting checked for
Chron's disease. I've been like this for
three years, but worse since I had a baby
four months ago. keep me posted on your
progress.

the side effects of Pantoprazole are
dizziness, anxiety, nausea, and
hypertonia, which is tightening of
muscles, which could cause your throat to
tighten and make it difficult to swallow.
ranitidine is feeling short of breath,
unusual weakness, nausea, stomach
pain...and buccastern is
Drowsiness Dizziness Dry mouth Difficulty
sleeping (insomnia) Agitation
A drop in blood pressure that occurs when
going from lying down to sitting or
standing, which results in dizziness and
lightheadedness (postural hypotension)
Irritation to the gum or mouth Skin rashes
Abnormal movements of the hands, legs,
face, neck and tongue, eg tremor,
twitching, rigidity..Yellowing of the skin
and eyes
In conjunction with your acid reflux
symptoms, you might be having an adverse
reaction to some of these medications, I
would talk to your doctor. Hope you feel
better soon.

when you have acid reflux and you have
difficulty breathing, most of the time you
have a sliding hiatal hernia, the reflux
aggrevates it and part of your stomach
gets caught in the diaphram, Do you have a
harder time breathing even after a small
meal? an endoscopy will not show the
hernia if it is not in the diaphram and is
back in its place. protonix 40mg finally
helped me when taken 1 hour before eating
every a.m. and no onion or garlic, it will
aggreviate it again, and dont lay down for
2 hours after eating and elevate top of
your bed 6-8 inches with wedge or boards.
your meals have to be very small. I had
regurgitation constantly and no deep
breath! when I dont do these things It
all starts over again.
