Posted: 09-17-07 09:01am

Please help!...Have been diagnosed with Trigeminal Neuralgia a while back.. My neurologis first gave me the ok to go ahead with facelift & eye lid procedures...but left final determination up to plastic surgeon...Plastic surgery scheduled but I'm questioning how safe it is...
Pls!.. any feedback/information on the pros/cons and risks for Trigeminal Neuralgia patients undegoing facelift/eye lid surgery, would be infinitely appreciated...Thank you!!

Facelift and having TN
Posted: 06-20-08 11:14am

I met with my neurosurgeon yesterday because I have TN on the right side of my face and have scheduled surgery to have a facelift. He said having a facelift may aggrevate the condition but ultimately left the decision up to me and my plastic surgeon. He said because the surgery involves pulling my faceand working on the underlying muscles is the reason it could aggrevate the problem. I am taking 600 mg of Oxcarbazepine 3 times a day and it seems to be controlling my episodes.
