Alright, I know I have a varicocele. It's
quite prominent and easy to see, in my
left testicle. However, no pain is caused
by it so far as I've had it. I mentioned
it to my doctor who examined it, and
confirmed that it was a varicocele, but
said that surgery wasn't necessary.
Now I'm having second thoughts. I'm 16,
and I read that long-standing varicoceles
can lead to atrophy of the testicle. Also,
I read online that adolescents should have
them fixed to prevent infertility in the
future. My doctor didn't send me through
an ultrasound or anything at all, so I'm
again questioning his judgement.
Can anyone help me decide if I should get
surgery or not?
