Stage 2 Breast Cancer ! Metastatic Liver Cancer ? Posted: 09-17-07 21:50pm
my mother's oncologist just discovered two
spots on her liver that we assume is
metastatic cancer that has spread to her
liver. (she'll have the biopsies this
week).
she was diagnosed with stage 2 breast
cancer almost 3 years ago. this is her
first recurrance. everything i'm finding
online is rather discouraging. does anyone
know what kind of prognosis this has these
days? and what about treatment? thank you.

Hi!
Metastatic liver cancer, often is the
first site of metastatic spread(all of the
body's blood passes through the
liver)Thus, prognosis for secondary liver
cancer, doesn't always mean the cancer
cells have spread to other organs of the
body. Due to this, making early discovery
is very important. Usually, there are no
symptoms for longer period.
Is your mum feeling fatigue? Has she lost
weight? Does she feel full even after a
small meal? Is she experiencing abdominal
pain or discomfort? Does she have fever?
Metastatic liver cancer prognosis depends
upon the disease's origin(severity of the
disease in its point of origin) and upon
the extent of metastasis(the size and
location of cancer in liver, whether the
cancer has invaded the regional lymph
nodes and other organs)
Your mum has two spots on the liver and
multiple tumors smaller than 5 cm in
diameter are classified as stage 2 cancer.
Treatment for metastatic liver cancer can
be performed by using traditional methods(
chemotherapy, radiotherapy, surgery);
innovative therapy(chemoembolization) and
alternative therapies.
