Rich T. I'm puzzled. I wonder why the
Select Comfort mattress did not work for
you and and Aero air mattress did? Isn't
Select Somfort considered an air mattress?
Depending on the Series, there is a
difference in the thickness of the pillow
top. My husband just got a Select Comfort
in February. It had a pillow top with 4
inches of foam pillow top, two inches of
which are memory foam.
Don't get me wrong. I'm not particularly
impressed with the Select Comfort but
mainly from the fact that if it is memory
foam, it certainly doesn't bounce back to
its original shape. It holds the body
depressions like a 20 year old mattress.
I have to look at the Aero now that you
spoke of it.
Most people I know have been purchasing
one of the Tempurpedic Foam Mattresses.
Didn't mean to get off the subject when we
are all discussing living in pain and how
we can change that, but your post caught
my attentionl.

Air Mattresses, Etc. Posted: 09-18-07 20:35pm
Hello Marie,
Not off subject at all in my opinion. We
are still talking about our backs.
I was happy to read that you are
"puzzled". Why happy? Because it tells
me you are THINKING!!
First Select Comfort we had we had about 8
years. After a few years the FOAM started
to not "bounce back", and that resulted in
a sway back impression which of course is
what you don't want. I called SC many
times and told them I needed several new
foam layers. Their response was always
"Try this, or try that". Made me mad as
hell because they were just delaying what
I knew was wrong.
SOOoooo I started to research the web and
look for other air mattress companies.
Some were out and out scams. They all had
one major flaw - FOAM!!!!! When you are
at the store the foam may feel good, but I
don't care what kind it is, it will not
over time keep its shape (reseliency
sp?).
Okay, I bought a second SC mattress with
the least amount of foam I could find.
Gave it a try for a couple of weeks of
back agony, and shipped it back to them.
One layer of lousy cheap foam killed my
back.
With my back, for MANY years the regular
mattresses gave my back a real PAIN.
So how did I end up sleeping on an Aero
air mattress? In January my wife and I
helped our daughter move to Chapel Hill.
My daughter wanted to be nice and told ole
Dad to sleep on her regular mattress.
Next morning she wanted to know how I
slept. I had to be truthful, and told her
"terrible". She meant well, but my back
was killing me the whole night long - hard
as a board!!
My wife had slept on the Aero air mattress
and said it was fine. She told me to give
it a try the next night which I did.
WOW!!!!! I had the best night's sleep in a
long long time. NO FOAM, just good ole
air.
Okay, the Aero mattress is not a "magic"
solutioon. It does take a little
experimenting to find out how much air is
just the right amount to give EVEN
support. I don't think it would work well
for two people.
The ole back is getting more and more
fussy. There is a fine line now between
too much air and not enough air. I'm now
at a point where only the twin size air
mattress works for me. For some reason
the queen just does not give me a good
night's rest.
Enough rambling!
May I suggest that you (and others) go to
Bed Bath and Beyond, or Linen N Things and
buy an Aero air mattress. Give it a try.
If you don't like it no problem, just
return it and get your money back.

P.S. To me pillowtops are a TOTAL NO NO.
Those things are the first to start
sagging. I wonder how many people have
back pain because of pillowtops and foam?
Regarding Tempurpedic mattresses - for me
I don't like them.
