Do I Have Some Sort of Cancer?
Posted: 09-20-07 09:32am

The other day under my arm something started to bother me and while searching we found a lump the size of a ping pong ball. It's hard and hruts bad and we made an appointment with the hospital but we cant get in until October 2, typical. About 95% of my entire family has had some sort of cancer and also the top of my elft breast has been giving me pains for the past week. Not only am I scared, but my current boyfriend, who had breast cancer himself is worried so bad and thinks that it's what I have.

It is hard not to jump to conclusions, but breast cancer shouldn't be the first thing you think of when you think of breast pain. In fact, cancer doesn't cause pain until the later stages.

How old are you?

It could be an ingrown hair folicle under your arm or something else entirely.

A few things that do cause breast pain are hormones and caffeine intake. Like I said earlier, the first signs of breast cancer generally are not breast pain.

Please try not to worry. Good luck.

Hi!
If your node is soft and tender is probably some infection, but if it's hard, unmovable, non-tender then you should be more concerned. Also, you need to be aware that sometimes breast cancer can enlarge the armpit lymph nodes even when the breast itself seems perfectly normal.

How are you?
Did you have your appointment on October 2?
What has the doctor suggested?
Do you have new informations to share with us?
We are thinking of you!
Best wishes!

well I had the doctor's app. and sthe doctor said it was somer sort of skin problem and it should clear up in a few weeks, she also said to come back in a month if it doesn't go away. I was there on the first of October and so far it hasn't gotten smaller and hasn't gone away so I still have a few weeks to wait but I still am unsure about what's going on.

Did your doctor look at the swollen area under an ultrasound? Or manybe do a needle aspiration of it... to draw some fluid out and test it? If not I would go to another doctor and get it done.. Look for a breast specialist in your area and make an appointment.
