Sharp Pain Under Ribs
Posted: 09-20-07 13:59pm

I have this sharp pain under my right ribs, that comes and goes and occasionally radiates across my stomach. Sometimes bending, leaning, or running makes it worse. I have notice that when i get stressed it appears almost right away, but there have been plenty of times when I wasn't really stressed that the pain appeared. It isn't tender to touch, actually, pressure kind of helps (but not much). The last time I had it at its worst, the area below my right bottom rib got hard and slightly swollen and I was practically immobile for about twenty minutes. I know it isn't my gallbladder because I had it removed early 2002.
If anyone had any suggestions at what may be causing my discomfort, I will appreciate your feedback.
Thanks!

Maybe constipation? It IS possible to feel digested food in the colon ...

How often do you have a bowel movement? Every day?

I have them regularly. Actually for the past couple of weeks I can't seem to hold anything on my stomach without one. I went to the doctor Friday and she thinks the lining of my stomach and esophogus may be damaged, so gave me medicine. If that doesn't help in two weeks time, I have to have tests run. Do you have any idea what could cause the pain?
