Jaylon is 6 months old today! I can't even believe how fast time has gone by. Crazy.... Shocked
Anyway, he's been eating food for 2 months and believe me he loves loves his food. He likes nearly everything.

My issue is that he has cut his formula intake a lot. He on average gets around 20-24 ounces of formula a day. He eats 3 meals with breakfast and supper being the big meals. Is that enough formula? He's growing and has plenty of wet diapers, so I don't worry about hydration. I am more concerned with his calorie/fat intake.

He goes to the ped on Monday for his check up and shots, and I'll ask there, but I like to get mother's opinions on things too.

i think if they're getting 3 meals a day they should be getting no more than 25 oz a day. does that sound right?

finn gets 18oz a day and lunch and dinner and he's growing and gaining just fine.

I have researched online and get a mixed bag of messages. Some say they should get 32 oz of formula plus their meals Shocked. That seems like a lot. Some say 24 oz of bottle is plenty.

Finn has certainly grown quite well so I guess I'll stop fretting at least until Monday. Thanks B!

Adriana drank about 24oz a day when she was Jaylon's age. She was started on solids rather early, so after 7 or 8 months her formula intake became less and less. And as long as he's getting enough nutrition from his solids I don't think he needs 32oz of formula. Adriana started table foods early too. We just mushed the heck out of our food. Jaylon looks like a healthy little man, so with 3 meals a day plus formula he should be all good.

as long as hes growing dont worry. hes bound to drink less formula as hes eating more solids, but make sure if he wants his milk, that its there for him. william started early on solids and was exactly the same

i have really no clue on this one, jordynnes 9 mths next week and she doesnt really like solids much, shed rather her bottles. i try and feed her different foods all the time. she take sa couple bites and pushes it away. I think joseph was alot easier, if he ate like an actual meal then he didnt reall yhave a bottle. like well by like 11 mths he only had a bottle at 1am of formula and drank milk and stuff during the day with his food. I think as long as they arent losing weight all is good. kids go through phases of only liking one food when theyre toddlers and its totally fine.

found this...

Multiply your baby's weight times 2.5 ounces
If your baby isn't eating any solids (as he shouldn't before 4 to 6 months of age), the general rule of thumb is to offer him 2.5 ounces of formula per pound of body weight each day. So if your baby weighs 6 pounds, you'll give him about 15 ounces of formula in a 24-hour period. If he weighs 10 pounds, he should drink 25 ounces in a 24-hour period.

Consider your baby's age
How much formula your baby needs depends not only on his weight but also on his age. If you're starting a newborn on formula, try giving him only an ounce or two at each feeding for the first week. Let his hunger guide you.

By the time he's about 1 month old, he'll probably be up to 3 or 4 ounces at each feeding and will consume 18 to 32 ounces in one day. From the age of 2 months to 6 months, you should be feeding your baby 4 to 6 ounces at a feeding, and he'll take in 23 to 32 ounces a day. (Some parents find that an increase of about one ounce per month works out about right.)

Once your baby reaches 6 months, you can feed him 6 to 8 ounces at a feeding, up to around 32 ounces of formula per day. At this point you should start adding solid foods to his diet, if you haven't already. You'll find that as your baby gets older, he will drink fewer bottles with more formula.

Once you start adding solids to his diet, his daily intake of formula milk should gradually decrease to about 720ml / 24oz. Once your baby is established on solids, he should be having approximately 600ml / 20oz or one pint of formula per day alongside a varied diet until he is a year old. After the age of one, he can move from drinking formula to full-fat cow's milk.

My doc told me that with solids he shouldn't get any more than 24oz of formula a day.

Thank you all for your facts and information. God, it's been so long since Brianna was a baby it seems all brand new to me again. He's definetely gaining and growing. I just don't want him eating too much and not getting what he needs from the formula.

You are all awesome!
