You only have freedom of speech if people like what you're saying.

(Alex Jones, etc.)

Ladies and gentleman of America, your civil liberties are sliding through your fingers. They had what, six cops on this kid and then they tased him. Kerry even said, "That's all right, let me answer his question".

I was talking to my boyfriend about it, and he made a good point. It wasn't necessarily by what he said, but how he said it. If he would have approached it in a different mannor, it probably wouldn't have been such a big deal, and when he said what he did about "clinton getting a blowjob"

I don't think he should have been tazed at all, and I think he had a right to ask his questions, that's why I posted this thread Laughing not because I'm against him. I just think he could have done things a little differently, but since it's already happened, there won't be any of that. I don't think he deserved to be tazed or arrested though.

I think he was doing it just to get on tv.

I've seen it on the news and I think he was just being sensationalist. If you're really worried about the issues there are far better things to do than putting yourself on YouTube.

if the man was right or wrong, if he could have said things differently or not, that is not the point.

The real point is that he was not allowed to speak, not allowed to air his concerns as an american citizen. That he was forcably and violently prevented from speaking. The same happend in the Uk not so long back a man of 70 was physically and very handedly ejected from and arrested at a labour confrence because he heckled something said by Jack Straw, this 70 year old man was a paid up member of the labour party and had been all his life and because he simply "booed" what Jack straw said he was arrested. Our governments are not working, they are not looking out for the interests of the people, they are lieing and decieving the people, they are manipulating people, putting fear into the people, taking away your rights, they believe it is their right to do so, it is their choice to do so. For the sake of your country, for the sake of your civil liberties and for the sake of your rights trun away from your governments and to the only establishment that can counter this evil that has infiltraited world politics... Even if you can not be reconciled to belief in a supreeme being, embrace the truth of Christ, do not put your faith in these tyrants put them in Christ and the truth shall set you free.

I completely agree and I am a huge supporter of free speech, all that crap.

But it just seemed too staged to me, or something. I don't know.

I watched the clip of the incident and I have to agree that the cops acted like the gestapo. I do think anyone has the freedom of speech to address a crowd, but they must be prepared to answer questions about their words. And many times, politicians don't allow questions, which is absurd.

So, people in the crowd have the right to ask questions and not be wrestled to the ground and tasered. If there is a disturbance caused by the person, then they should be led to the exits, not beaten down by six cops. There should be no offensive words or obscentities, but anyone should be allowed to address the speaker.

As Birch said, even Kerry offered to answer the guy's question. Who knows what the kid's motive was? He still is entitled to freedom of speech.

And Georgia59, what was this statement:

"I completely agree and I am a huge supporter of free speech, all that crap."

Surely, you wouldn't call one of our most important freedoms, "all that crap", if you had fought in a war for those freedoms. Right?

It's just a figure of speech. I'm sorry if it was disrespectful.

This is tangential, but I don't understand why cops aren't taught martial arts. Five or six cops couldn't restrain one kid?
He was down, on the ground. I think they just wanted him to shut up and play with their toys.

More info and as always interesting comments from the general populace:
http://studentpa.info/ spip.php?article291

Edit to add: I sure would like Kerry to release a statement of his answers to the questions this kid asked. It's too bad that he'll have time to prepare answers instead of on the fly like this.
