Spit Up Posted: 09-24-07 12:47pm
quick question......is it normal for
babies to spit up ALOT after a feeding? I
am breast feeding and its kind of worrying
me. She doesnt all the time, but sometimes
when I burp her she will spit up so much
its almost like shes throwing up and one
time a little spit up came out of her
nose. Is she getting too much air when she
eats? Or is she just eating too fast??
She might be eating too fast, after 5 min
or so take her off and burp her, she might
also be filling up with air, i know bottle
feeding they say give em an ounce or 2
then burp them then after they burp
continue feeding them. so maybe ucan try
pulling her off and burping her every so
often. Hopefully that will help. And it
always looks like more when they spit up
then they actually spit up in reality. As
long as its not projectile or funky
colored and she doesnt seem cranky i
wouldnt be worried, joseph used to spit up
like all the time and alot. jordynne was
total opposite and never really spit up
much.

I agree with Diane. She may be getting
too much air, or getting too much too
fast. Your milk may be coming in to quick
for her and she's struggling to get it all
down. Burping more often is great
advice.
It always seems like they are spitting up
a ton, but it's probably not as much as
you think.

I work part time. When I get home from
working a full day, my son immediately
wants to feed. He feeds for a long time
and takes in a lot. He just loves mommy
much more than formula (got lazy with the
pumping). He really spits up a lot for
about a few hours after those heavy
feeding sessions. I do a horrible time of
stopping to burp him, horrible.
Also, during these times my milk is coming
at him very fast because it usually has
been at least four hours since I pumped
last (I really got to be better!!).
Wow, you ladies are good with the advice.
I actually just realized why my little one
spits up.
