Well, was he the only person that you have
had unprotected sex with? If not, have you
had your yearly exams? I think that may be
a good idea, wether you are planning to
start a family now or not.

Yep, it's time for you to start getting a
pap done yearly. This will be you first
indicator if you have an std that could
lead to many bad things, one of them being
infertility.
I'm sure everything is fine and you were
just able to avoid your fertile time. Or
it may have been a problem with him.
However, you need to start taking care of
yourself. The first step is to go to a
Gyno. The next thing you might want to
consider is birth control if you aren't
wanting to start a family right now. Just
because you didn't get pregnant with him,
doesn't mean that it can't happen.

on average, it takes about 2 years to get
pregnant. but if you dont wana get
pregnant then it is best to use some form
of contraception, youve been lucky up
until now

When you go in for a yearly exam they do a
few things. First they will to a pelvic
exam to make sure everything feels as it
should and nothing is inflamed. This is
also an important thing to have done. They
can find and diagnose many issues simply
by doing this. And is a good place to
start.
With the pap, they use what looks like a
long qtip to take a sample of the cells on
your cervix. (Some women find it
uncomfortable, I've never had a problem
with it). They then send the sample to a
lab who checks for 'abnormal' cells. This
is how they test for many std's.
The whole visit lasts about 10-15 minutes
and is completely worth the time. Planned
parenthood does them for free, if you
don't have insurance. This is also the
time they normally talk to you about birth
control and discuss wether your current
method is working and making sure you
don't have any questions. (mine normally
goes over Plan B with me, just to make
sure I'm aware and comfortable with it).
