RT and HT, 20 radiation treatments, After Treatment Problems

I recently completed RT & HT. 20
radiation treatments along with 6 one
monthly implants of zoladex. My pda is now
0.18 but following the return of my
testicles they have become sensitive and
sometimes I have a burning sensation in
that area. Is this normal following the
above treatment.

Hi!
Zoladex causes transient increases in
serum levels of testosterone and can cause
transient worsening of symptoms, or
occurrence of additional signs and
symptoms of prostate cancer. This may
occasionally develop during the first few
weeks of Zoladex treatment and as hormone
levels subside, an improvement should be
noticed.
The skin in between legs is delicate and
towards the end of radiotherapy can become
sore and red. Probably, your burning
sensation and sensitive testicles are due
to your therapy.
Best wishes!
Marija

Hi!
I guess you'll have the symptoms for a few
weeks, but if you find your skin at the
testicle area very sore you should contact
your oncologist.

Hi Marija,
I went to see my Doctor last Monday. He
gave me full examination and said all OK
down there. Tenderness possibly due to
slight nerve damage caused by radiation
treatment. He said things should improve
and they are, but slowly. Thanks for your
concern.
Regards, David.

I'm happy that you're feeling better and
better.
You can experience some bladder or bowel
irritation due to radiation therapy.
But, all of the side effects caused by
prostate cancer treatment, will diminish
or become less bothersome during the first
two years after the treatment.
When is your follow-up?
I guess you'll continue to have regular
check-ups for PSA level.
Have you find supportive group during this
time?
Thinking of you!
Marija

I'm having check-ups with the consultant
evey 6 months. My next one is due Feb
2008. PSA blood sample taken 2 weeks prior
so that results are available for
check-up. I have found support from this
forum and also the UK based Prostate
Cancer Charity Forum. There is also a
'pop-in anytime' clinic at our local
cancer hospital.
Thanks once again,
David

Following my recent visit to the doctor he
has kindly contacted the consultant just
to confirm his thoughts. The consultant
has now asked me to see him on Nov 5th.
This is just to make sure everything is
OK. Will keep you informed.
Regards, David

something strange.
I wish you many, many healthy days!
Take care!

I saw the consultant on Monday. My PSA was
0.33 which is excellent. Sensitivety in
the testicle area due to effects of the
radiation. It will clear up gradually. No
need for me to worry. Do not need to see
consutant again till April 2008. Thanks
for your support.
Best wishes, David

Still have sensitivity in groin area but
this is not a problem. Are things OK with
