Decorations!
Posted: 09-25-07 12:55pm

Do any of you ladies decorate your house for Halloween? Not for a party or anything, but just to decorate. I don't have Aidan today, so I took advantage of that and started going through cupboards. I found some of my Halloween decorations and Adriana and I put them up. It was fun, except for when I stood on the chair to see better, Adriana told me to "SIT!" Embarassed Laughing
I have only put up window clings and some door decorations. I have spider webs that I want to put outside on the deck, and I also want to deck out the deck this year (we just got a bigger one, woo!)
Any ideas?

We saw a ton of decorations in Michael's on Sunday. They had these glass vials with stoppers labeled "eye of newt" and other things. It was so cute! And you know how they have those little electronic villages or whatever for Christmas? Like Nativity sets and village squares with little moving parts? Well, they make those for Halloween too Shocked it was awesome! They're expensive though.

As far as decorating for outside, maybe you could do some fake spider webs and replace your lightbulbs in your front rooms with black light bulbs, so there's a blue glow that can be seen from outside! You can do pumpkins too probably. Are you dressing Adriana up this year?

I have to dedicate one of these weekends to decorating. I only looked at wal-mart real quick, not looking for anything specific, just browsing. I'll have to go check Michael's out! Maybe I can stuff some of my nephews clothes and make a headless guy out there and sit it next to the door Very

I was about to say the same thing. I might dress jay up but it will only be so I can take a few pictures, seems kind of pointless I probably wont bother. We dont get any kids round here at the door either. From tv shows it looks like a huge thing over in the States.

I thought this thread was going to be about christmas decorations already! Laughing Shocked

Me too! Laughing

We don't bother with Hallowe'en either. I remember when I was a kid I asked my mum if I could go trick or treating and she told me no because I might scare some poor old lady living on her own. I think she was worried about me being out on the streets knocking on random people's doors too.

I won't let Max go trick or treating either. I don't think it's right to annoy people by banging on their doors and making them feel obliged to give sweets or money. A lot of elderly people might worry about what would happen if they didn't give anything.

i never used to go trick or treating because my dads always hated it. they say at school, never talk to strangers except on this 1 night when you tell your kids to beg for sweets! so i wasnt allowed to go. didnt really bother me. williams not guna go trick or treating when he gets older unless he goes with his auntie louise or charlotte

I'm with Bridget, Halloween is my favorite. A lot of people celebrate it. They stock up on Candy because they want to usually, and they enjoy seeing all the little kids dressed up. If they don't want to, they simply turn their porch light off. That's pretty much a general "rule" if a porch light is on, you don't go to that door. Pretty simple really.

Well, judging by the American films, I'm missing serial killers that won't die and prey on sexy teenagers. That seems to be the theme, right? Very

I've just re-read this and it looks like I'm being snarpy and that's not my intention! I'm not a fan of trick or treating but I love Hallowe'en simply for the spooky factor. I wasn't trying to sound all 'God you Americans and your silly holiday!"

Oh nothing I say today comes out right!

I'm going to go and eat a big bar of chocolate. The diet's screwed anyway!

I love Halloween! I have window clings, door knob hangers, glass jars that say "ghost parts, spider legs, goo juice etc. I hang up glow in the dark signs and skeletons. I don't care for the spider webs though. They are so stinkin hard to put up and even more of a pain to take down.

I didn't hang any of my scary decorations because I don't want to terrify Jaylon.

We used to get tons of trick or treaters, but every year it gets less and less. I always buy tons of candy and when I'm tired of passing out candy I dump all my remaining candy into the last kids sack.

lol Jules. you crack me up. i probably won't do anything for hallowe'en either. i'm supposed to be organising a party for the gothic group i go to but i won;t actually be attending it lol.

last year we were up north for hallowe'en and i took my little sister tick or treating down just one street and she came back with a huge bag of sweets and £27 Wink

in london nobody answers there doors so i most probably won't take them Sad

Lol jules you dont sound snappy! You were simply explaining how it is over here, and im glad we dont celebrate it much either! I wont let jay go trick or treating when hes old enough because its just not a safe thing to do and also what you said about scaring old people, I think maybe its the teenagers who do that and take things too far. Some people can get really scared about what someone might do to their house if they dont answer the door so I know what you mean. A halloween party could be fun though, like a chance to dress up, but then I wouldnt want jay to go because the costumes/face masks might scare him. I might sound over the top but young children are sensitive and I dont want him having nightmares or seeing scary things before hes old enough to understand. Christmas is our holiday!! Wink Laughing
