Well as I posted before Cynder my cat was
place in a new home on Sunday. Sunday
night I sent an e-mail to this lady asking
how he was so far (it was too late to call
at this point) so then when I didn't get a
reply I thought maybe she didn't have
internet at home so I have been calling
her house. She finally called me back
tonight, and I asked how he was and her
reply "Oh, well he got outside" what?!?!
Here I am thinking I'm doing the best for
my cat, trying to give him a better life
with more attention, and this dipstick
can't even keep the cat inside! He got out
yesterday morning and neglected to call
me!!! I just got home from searching for
him around this womans neighborhood. My
mom is coming over tomorrow to watch kids
and my cousin and I are taking the dogs
and combing her neighborhood. She doesn't
live too terribly far away, so I don't
know if he'd try to come back home (we've
been here for 3 years) or what he'll do.
How terrible of a person am I? I can't
even believe this.

Awe no! I was thinking I
bet something was wrong because she hadn't
contacted you back... how dumb can people
get
I hope you find him, thats awful. She must
have seemed like a good person for you to
give your cat to in the first place, its
not like you gave him to just anyone
right? So it isnt your fault at all! Did
she tell you how he got out? Hasnt she
owned cats before? Im really mad at her
myself.

Oh that's awful Mandi! You're not a
terrible person at all. You were trying
to do what was best for the cat and your
family.
I would be willing to bet he will be on
your doorstep soon. Cats have a funny way
of finding their way home.
Good luck to you

Thanks ladies. I really appreciate your
kind words.
Morgan, Cynder took to her right away and
she had her cat for 15 years and it had to
be put down last year. She wanted to think
about it for a year before getting another
one, so she seemed like she'd be a good
home. She also has no children, as Cynder
isn't real big on kids (tho he tolerates
Adriana very well)
Bridget, I guess we've only lived here for
2 years...seems longer than that I guess,
but yes we've let him out before. We
started letting him outside this past
spring. He was an indoor outdoor cat when
I lived at home, about 20 minutes from
here. Then I moved in with DH to an
apartment, and he was indoor only, then we
moved to a house, and he was indoor only
because of the traffic (and this is the
neighborhood this woman is from....don't
you think she'd me a little more
careful?!) and then we moved to this place
and it's so quiet and barely any traffic,
and we're sort of in the country. He
doesn't go too far either. The furthest
I've seen him was across the street (which
in a trailer court, that's not far away)
there is a trailer there that he can get
under and I do believe that's where he
gets all his mice that he brings to me.
I went straight to her house last night
after work, and she told me to call before
I got there....and when I called she said
"well you won't see anything in the dark
anyways" but night is when he's the most
active, and if he hears my voice he will
come to me. Plus it was raining and she
seemed to think he'd be afraid to get wet.
As if she knows him
Also, this happened Monday morning. Don't
you think she would have called me as soon
as she knew this happened?! I would have
gone over there and looked before he had a
chance to get too far away. She only had
him since Sunday noon....didn't even take
24 hours for her to lose him.

I expect she was really embarrassed and
hoped the cat would turn up before she had
to admit what had happened.

Maybe she was embarrassed, but she really
didn't seem to be too concerned. I don't
know her either, so I wouldn't know how
she acts concerned.

I bet Cynder will make his way back to
you. This is going to sound so stupid but
you know that dumb kid's song about the
cat coming back? It's usually true. Cats
seem to always find their way home.

The cat came back, the very next day, the
cat came back, they thought he was a goner
but the cat came back...he just wouldn't
stay awaaaaaaay...
That one?
I think he's on his way back to you too,
cats have a tendency to do that. How far
away is this woman from you?

yea, i'd be pissed! I can't believe this
lady is that dumb. I mean sometimes these
things happen, but the cat is already used
to being inside, so it's not brain
surgery. This lady has to be more
responsible. Just makes me mad to even
think about it.
hehe...it put i'm angered instead of i'm
pi****

Jules, she's about 10-15 minutes away by
car. She's by a train depot, and we have
tracks behind us....so maybe they connect.
That's what I've been hoping, that he can
just follow that home instead of crossing
roads. It's easier to dodge a train than
it is a few cars, and he's not used to
traffic.

I'm sure he'll be fine. I expect he's
mouse hunting and found somewhere snuggly
to snooze while he's on his way home to
you. Our cat (when I was a kid) used to
go missing for a week or more sometimes -
he'd always turn back up. We used to say
he'd been off on one of his adventures.

I hope that's the case. That's
encouraging! Thanks for telling me that. I
expected him to run straight home....but I
guess your story makes more sense. He's
fixed, so I wouldn't think he's spending
too much time "having fun" I hope he
finds something to eat
I have food for him on the deck, in case
he comes home when we're at work.

Oh yeah, our cat was neutered too - it was
always little hunting expeditions he'd go
on. Don't worry, he'll turn up. Cats
just like to remind us who's boss
