My name is Karleigh-Rae. I'm 19 years old.
Recently i started bruising alot. At first
i thought it was that i just bruised
easily but now i get bruises when someone
touches me or if i lean on something. I'm
not sure what it is. I went to the doctors
he ran some blood tests on me but they
came up normal. My doctor said it might
be cancer but the cancer test he did on me
came up negative. He then sent me to a
specialist who also ran some blood tests
but the same ones i'm waiting for the
results but they take up to two weeks. Now
the bruising is getting worse. This
morning i woke up to bruises on my knees
and i couldn't bend them. I can barely
move my one hand because of the bruising.
does anyone have any ideas about what this
is???

Hi!
Bruises that don't go away after two weeks
and are getting more painfull, swollen or
you can't move the joint, need medical
attention.
Bruising depends on three main things: how
tough a person's skin tissue is( people
with thin arms and legs don't have enough
fat to cushion and protect superficial
blood vessels from damage), certain
diseases or conditions and taking certain
medications(antidepressants, aspirin,
painkillers, anti inflammatory
drugs,steroids, antibiotics)
There are many disease and conditions that
are causing bruising.
Any bleeding/clotting disorder with
deficiency in one of many clotting factors
can lead to easily
bruising(Thrombocitopenia purpura-
decreased
platelets blood count)
Vitamin K deficiency due to Celiac
disease(vit k requires the presence of fat
in order to be utilized by the body and
people who have problems with fat
absorption or use medication that impair
fat absorption are prone to get
bruises-vit K is a blood clotting factor)
Do you have nosebleeds?
The liver plays a major role in producing
blood clotting factors and some conditions
that are affecting liver functioning can
cause bruising.
Hypothyroidism is one of the condition
where the patient gets bruise easily.
Bone cancer and leukemia are causing
bruise, too.
If your doctor is thinking you may have
leukemia I wanna know if you are
experiencing other symptoms related to
leukemia, such as weakness, paleness,
fever and flu-like symptoms, enlarged
lymph nodes, pain in joints and bones,
weight loss and night sweats.
Before you get your results, I can suggest
you to do something to make you bruises
smaller, less painful and healing faster.
You can use topical vitamin K cream and
its effects will be greater if you combine
it with arnica topical cream. Also, you
can take vitamin C(it's strengthening the
blood vessel's wall) and probiotics that
are helping with vitamin K deficiency.
Best wishes!

Brusing, leukemia? Posted: 02-24-08 12:35pm
Hi, I'm 16 years old and have recently
started bruising and losing weight. I lost
about 8 or 9lbs over the past month or so,
but I feel fine. I was going through a
break up with my boyfriend and figure I
was just depressed and wasn't eating as
much. Then frequent bruises started
occuring on my shins. I have about seven
on each shin, they are no bigger then the
size of my thumb and some of them are
painful, but not raised. I have one or two
the size of a pea. My legs are very vainy
which I thought may have something to do
with my easy bruising. Seeing as how I
havent been eating as much as normal, I
thought maybe it had to do with an iron
deficiency. They all go away after about
two weeks or so, but then new ones will
occur. Help!

bruise easily Posted: 04-06-08 07:56am
Hi
My name is leila and I am 36 this year.
Lately I have noticed I am bruising very
easily. If I sleep on my side and my knees
are touching I wake with a bruise where
the pressure of the 2 kneecaps have been
resting on each other during the night. I
minor bump or knock on the leg or arms
leave brusing then there are the ones I
just dont recall how I could have got
them. I had a regular naturopath befor
moving 10 months ago from QLD to VIC as I
dont believe in pharmacutical treatment. I
eat realativley healthy with a consistent
diet of fish, legumes, veges fruit,
cheese, unhomogonised milk, lamb,pork,
etc. I take daily a multi vitamin, single
does fish oil, and 1500mg glucosamine. I
study 3 days a week and work 3 days in a
pet store. I drink approx 2 bottles red
wine and smoke 1 packet of cigarettes a
week. I walk twice a week for 1/2 hour and
every 3 week go hiking for 4-6 hours. I
have had test done for thyroids liver etc
all was good.
Why would this brusing be occuring so
frequently and easily? I am beginning to
wonder perhaps if it could be attributed
to some kind of nerves dissorder??
I would so appreciate any knowledge you
could share with me.

When have you been checked for your
thyroid gland last time?
Have you been done regular blood check up
recently?
