Can Anyone Recommend a Treatment For Tmj? Posted: 09-27-07 03:20am
Hi,
I have been suffering for 5 years with TMJ
and just lately my symptoms have got
worse:
I suffer from severe headaches, jaw pain,
shoulder and neck pain. I also suffer
from dizziness and nausea. I live in
England and the docotors over here are not
interested in treating TMJ as they do not
recognise it as a condition, they said I
was depressed so perscibed
antidepressants, which I have now stopped
taking. At the momemt they think I have
an inner ear problem, however I know it is
all connected with my TMJ after reading
this forum.
I am thinking of having hypnosis to try
and stop me from clentching my teeth at
night and also some healing for the pain.
Has anyone had any success with these
treatments?
Also could anyone recommend an alternative
treatment which has helped them?
If anyone has any advice I would be
grateful as these symptoms are driving me
crazy and sometimes the docotrs make me
think I am going mad.

I have something that you could try. Most
people that have no clue about tmd think
that its all in our heads. that is baloney
and dont let them make you think you are
nuts. I know that i have been to doctors
that didnt want to treat me. now i have a
team of doctors that treat me an i no
longer have tmj pain. get a hold of me by
pm or email and we will talk
in the mean time try using heat and ice.I
prefer heat --but that is just me. also if
you are in a ton of pain and cant take it
any more take 4 ibuprophen (do you have
that in england?) with water and food.
looking forward to talking to you.

Hi - Chinese Treatment Option? Posted: 10-04-07 02:49am
Hi there
yes, it really is all in our heads --
simply because our jaws are in our heads,
LOL.
I'm very happy to have found this site, as
I have all these symptoms and they have
recently become worse - dizzyness, more
floaters in eyes etc. I also feel like
everyone just thinks I'm a hyperchondriac,
and I try to shut up about my pain when
with others but actually I just need to
talk about it.
I had a cold last week and hence couldn't
breathe through my nose, so my mouth was
open the whole night -- didn't have any
pain symptoms during that time!!! so I was
very sad to see my blocked nose clear up,
as horrible as the cold was and as dry as
my mouth was in the middle of the night,
it was so much better to have no pain the
next day! So guess a gum-guard is the way
forward. I'd put a peg on my nose if I
could ... Anyway, I've been reading up on
a site that mentions chinese treatments,
and they reckon that grinding jaw problems
has to do with an imbalance in the liver,
as well as kidneys, and they describe
certain vitamins to take to get it back
into balance. I have not tried it yet, but
it seems to make sense. -- ,
