Q: She Is Here!

My little girl is finally here! She came on Sunday, it was a long horrible delivery for the most part. I had contractions starting about 5am got to the hospital about 9am and was at 4cm and fully effaced. A few hours later got an epidural. By about 3-4pm i was ready to push and pushed for 3.5 hours and she was stuck! but she was too far down the Dr said to do a c-section and too far up to use a vaccuum.... so that left the horrible forceps Sad but there wasn't much else i guess. that whole thing was pretty traumatic for me and dh and baby. so she was born at 7:27pm 8lbs 1oz and she was face up which nobody knew beforehand. We got back in the room and found out she was breathing very fast so they took her into the nicu for the night and she is still there and will be for at least another week. it is the worst feeling ever to go home without your baby. apparently during delivery she got some nerve damage and it is affecting her diaphragm and right shoulder area. so it is a wait and see if it will heal on its own or not. so please say a prayer for her to heal quickly! her name is Ella Grace and we have a few pics up at babykusina . com
hope everyone has a better delivery than me!!!!

i'm sorry you had a bad experience, but she's here now! yay! i love the name you gave her, it's very pretty.

it's still fresh in your mind now but i promise you'll forget all about it soon enough. i had a traumatic labor ending in an emergency c-section, but i've blocked it all out now. hopefully if you have another baby it'll be a much more positive experience.

congrats!

Welcome Little Ella Grace!
Hi Sweetie, COngratulations..............you sound as though you went though what I did, except my daughter was turned and would not come out, so after 16 hours of hard labor, I was sectioned. Heather was in the hospital for a3 days more, but that was to make sure she was gonna be pk as well. She was only 5 pounds. That was 24 years ago and hers a big girl now. Miss Ella Grace is going to be just fine. I feel this in my heart and know God has blessed you and this baby and you will see shortly , she'll be honme very very soon. My Mother was in the delivery room with me, shes a labor and delivery nurse(retired now) but explained to me it was very traumatic for this baby trying to be birthed and a lot of times, guess-ta-mations are given.......thus nerve damage. Miss Ella Grace need some quiet time and attention just ot make sure she will be in utmost condition when her is weady to go home. God bless you this little angle and your special family. She's gonna be just great..............Now the fin begins@ Looking forward to lots of pics! HUGS!

thanks everyone. she is doing ok right now. still can't breath well and needs the nostril oxygen to help some. we are waiting until monday to see if her diaphragm gets any better then we will talk about some options... one of them being going to a specialist at a bigger hospital and maybe needing surgery. this is the worst week ever. i am so happy she is here but i am only happy when i am with her and that is at the hospital a few times a day. my whole life is going to see her, thinking of her, coming home and pumping and sleeping. nothing else matters. that sounds depressing i know but it's true. i hope she can heal on her own with some physical therapy but we just don't know and not knowing anything is so hard. but thanks for all the kind thoughts!

Congrats sweetie!!

Is there any parental accommodations for you? My daughter was born with neuro-thorax(sp?) and was in an incubator for 3 days, and also stayed in pediatrics for another 2 days. I was dead set on staying with her. No one was going to make me leave. Maybe there's something there for you.

I hope she gets better soon!

no accomodations for us. i wish there was. we only live 2 miles from the hospital so it makes it easy yo get there but i still hate it when i have to leave her! this will most likely be a real long process, especially if surgery is needed. i just pray that is starts to heal on its own.
