Dont Know Where to Put This...

Please move if needed, I just need advice

My ear piercing got infected due to a metal allergy. I have taken out the ring but my lymph node is now swollen as well. I have had the piercing for years and it flares up but I have nevr noticed the swollen lymph node before. It is only the node behing the infected ear, not the other side so I have ruled out strep (I feel fine as well).

Has anyone ever experienced this? I just noticed this morning and have no health insurance so a doc is out for now but any advice is greatly appreciated.

no need to worry
my lymph nodes swell all the time
it's just a way that your body is fighting
off the infection..
don't worry about it =)

I went to the doc for a swollen lymph node before...
and he didn't give me anything for it and told me it would
go away on its own

Thank you. That is what I figured but it still freaks me out. I would start cleaning it but I am at work right now so that is out for about 5 more hours.

salt water clears infections easily. just let some salt disolve in some boiled water and dab some cotton wall in it when it is cooled off and use that. ive always done that with all my piercings, especially my ears

It may be nothing, as others have said, but it could also be something a little more serious. I used to work as a nursing assistant in the hospital and we had a young girl who let her infected ear piercing go and ended up with a major infection. It actually started to go into the bone as well. I don't want to scare you b/c it could just be a minor thing but please get it looked at if it doesn't heal very soon!

it isn't noticeable at all and the ear is already getting better. I asked my boyfriend to feel it and he said he could not tell
