Yesterday when I have the most severe TMJ
flare up ever my mouth would not open and
my face became deformed. It was like I
turning into a fish face and couldn't even
smile. Is this just a temporary thing
from a severe flare up or will my face be
out of whack forever?

It should be temporary. I hope that you
are getting some sort of treatment to help
relieve those muscle spasms. Sorry, I
can't remember what you've told me before
(old age does that to people). Relax,
de-stress, massage, PT, hot tub, trigger
point massage, Yoga, anything but NO
STRESS!!!
God bless...

How do you get to sleep. I haven't slept
in like 5 days now. My muscles won't stop
spasming. I used to be a body builder so
my muscles are much bigger and stronger
than most. This could cost me my job and
health insurerance. The doctor prescribed
anti-depressants but I don't know how to
unspasm these muscles or at least
experience some sleep. Last night I did
sleep for like an hour. I had a dream
that I had no pain and I was happy.

I think my spasms pushed the top tmj out
of the socket. It's really bad looking.
How do I fix this. I tried to push it
back in but couldn't get it done. My eyes
have felt weird since that.

If you aren't already, I'd really suggest
a good chiropractor. I wish there was
more I could help you with. Use lots of
moist heat directly on the jaw joints and
where any of your muscles actually are
hurting. Maybe you could find a pain
clinic that does trigger point
injections.
You do need good sleep to heal your body.
I don't really do anything special. When
I'm in pain, I might take a pain pill or
Zanaflex (a muscle relaxant) and lie down
with my heating pad (which isn't moist
heat, but it's on a timer and often I
would fall asleep this way). Make sure
you are using a good pillow. Sleeping on
the back is the best but I'm a side
sleeper and use a Splintek side-sleeper
pillow (similar to memory but with
cut-outs).
It really sounds like you need outside
intervention with those muscle spasms. I
hope and pray that you will find the help
you need.
God bless...

Hey Posted: 10-01-07 11:00am
maybe try a GOOD chiropracter, but BE
CAREFUL!!! i have a good one that pops it
in with his hand, it will hurt afterwards
tho. like crazy...... just like a
dislocated shoulder. but just like any
professional you really have to call and
find a good one. Please be careful... if
it is truely dislocated, you cant do it
yourself......do not mess with it.... you
need a very experienced professional. hope
you feel better. love cindy
