I Need Advice Befor Next Doctors Vist Posted: 09-28-07 23:27pm
About a month and a half ago i went to my
family doctor with a lump under my jaw by
the back of my cheek bone. I told her that
it was hurting me. She said it was most
likly a swollen lymphnode. She prescibed
me 800mg Augmentin (not sure if i spelled
correctly) to rule out an infection. Also
claritin and nasacort because i have
seasonal allegeries. She also told me to
come back in a month if this was not
resolved. I took the medications and
waited month. During the month this lump
did not go away and continued to cause me
pain. The pain was by no means unbearable.
But it was enough to know something was
there, and keep my mind preoccupied on
this topic. So today i went back to see
her and told her all of this. She reffered
me to a ear nose and throat doctor along
with ordering blood work. My question is ,
is there any questions i should be asking
this doctor when i see him. The thing i
want most is an explanation of why this is
happening an what is causeing it to happen
so my mind can be at ease. So any advice
on anything i should do to get the results
i am looking for is greatly appreciated

I might ask the specialist what conditions
could possible present the same symptom :
this swollen lymph node. What are the
best and worse scenarios? Unfortunately,
the immune system can react to a number of
different problems, so a swollen node
might be just the beginning of your
inquiry.
