How My First Pregnancy Appointment Went Posted: 09-29-07 09:40am
So I had my first doctors appointment
yesterday. I really like my doctor, I
heard only good things about him and I
guess they're true, he's really great. So
at the beginning of the appointment we
figured out based on my last period that I
was likely 10 weeks along. But when he did
the exam he said my uterus felt bigger and
that I was 12 weeks along not 10. So my
due date is April 11 2008!
I don't see how I could be 12 weeks along,
but I believe him. Maybe it feels bigger's
cause there's twins? Anyways I go for an
unltrasound next tuesday to make sure
everything's alright. He said that
potenially he could tell the sex then, but
we're not getting our hopes up. My
insurance only pays for one ultrasound so
we're paying for the next one to find out
the sex. All in all it was a good
appointment. Oh, he gave me something for
my nausea but it doesn't seem to be
helping. More than likely I'm gonna end up
in the hospital. Hopefully not.

Well, I'm glad the appointment went well.
Oh, I wouldn't trust anyone, not even a
doctor, trying to tell you what the sex is
at 13 weeks. Males and females look really
similar at this point and the clitoris can
look a lot like a penis. I would wait
until like 20 weeks for that. I really
hope you don't end up in the hospital.
That wouldn't be fun.

Even if they do say "It's a boy!" or "It's
a girl!" we're still going to have another
ultrasound in a few weeks to be alittle
more sure. I hope I don't end up in the
hospital but things arn't looking good
right now. I feel really horrible so if
the hospital can help then I'm willing to
try it.

It is true that it is hard to tell the sex
so early one...however my u/s tech,
figured it out at 10weeks....it is a boy
Confirmed it at 15weeks, and again at
18weeks. All via u/s...so it is
possible...its just not 100%
Good luck with everything!!! COngrats!

I'm glad your appointment went well. They
can't always date the pregnancy accurate
based on the feel and position of your
uterus. Women can vary a lot. Hopefully,
the ultrasound will give you a clearer
picture of how far along you are.

I'm glad you like your Dr!! That's always
the MOST important..besides your babies
health!
My uterus was measuring 4 weeks larger
than it was supposed to. Even after my
very 1st u/s, it was measuring big.
But the u/s determined that I wasn't as
far as my uterus wanted us to believe!
lol!! THis is my 2ns baby though...so I'm
sure that has lots to do with it!
being that you only get one u/s, I would
hold off on seeing the baba until you go
get about a 90% accuracy on the sex. Just
to save the money.
If I were to pay for one, I'd try to shoot
for a 3/D, 4D u/s. (although I think it
kinda ruins the surprise!! lol)!
