Advice Please Ladies.

As most of you know, I have the mirena
coil fitted. I got it fitted in april, so
have had it in for just over 5 months now.
I bled continuously for the first 12 weeks
or so, & now whenever I have a
"period" they last about 3 weeks &
there's only 2 weeks between them.
Since having it put in, I can't seem to
lose weight, & I get spots all the
time. My mood swings are worse & it's
just generally not helping my already
unstable hormones.
Another problem (TMI warning) is that the
strings hanging down from my cervix
scratch the h*ll out of Jonny when we have
sex. I'm seriously considering having it
removed & choosing another form of
contraception.. but have no idea what
would be best.
Any types I should avoid?

wow... it definitely sounds like that's
not right for you.
do you have the same b/c that we have
here? i really liked Yaz when i was on it.
i didn't notice any side effects and at
first it made my period light and lasted
for about a day, then it went away
altogether.
i've heard bad things about the depo shot
and the patch.

Sounds like it may be the hormones. I
cannot take hormonal birth control either.

I was on Ortho TriCyclen Lo for about 4
years & never had a problem, it made
my periods lighter, my cramps almost non
existant & there was no weight gain or
anything like that.
I tried the patch & didn't like the
black sticky ring it left on my skin when
I took it off, I had to scrub & scrub
& it still wouldn't come off. That
& I didn't trust it too much.
Got back on the pill then (I've tried a
bunch lol) my senior year in high school I
wanted to try the shot because I hated
taking pills.. I was on it for about 6
months & went from 130lbs to 160lbs.
My best friend was on it & it did the
same to her. I wouldn't recommend that to
anyone!
Right now I'm on Levlen 28 because when I
got back on my tricyclen lo after I had
Kaylee I noticed right around the time I'd
get my period I'd literally feel like
killing everyone. My mood swings were
HORRIBLE. So my doc put me on this Levlen
28 because it has the same amount of
hormones all month instead of different
amounts every week or whatever it is.
Maybe that's something that would work
better for you? I hope you get it
straightened out soon!
(Wow I just wrote a novel!)

Ortho Tricyclen Lo made me a raging b*tch.
I am on Loestrin 24 and I love it. My
periods are way lighter and shorter.

It sounds like its causing you problems
and making you miserable. Definitely ask
the doctor about more options,
unfortunately what worked for me may not
work for you b/c is a health forum like
that.

I was told from my doctor that the
injection thins your bones. I was going to
go on that but with my docotr you have to
sign forms stating you wont take legal
action against her.

I am getting pretty bad menstrual cramps
too, yeah.. it's just not working for me
at all.
I'm definitely going to see a doctor &
talk to her about contraception options..
at the moment I'm thinking of going on the
pill. I've heard so many bad things about
the depo injection, & I want something
that will make my cycle regular. Until
Jonny moves here, we might just use
condoms.. but he'll be here before
christmas so I want to be on a form of b/c
by then.

Depo can thin your bones with long term
use. If you liked the Depo you could
always go to your doc once a year and have
a bone density test if you were worried
about it. There are meds you can take
that help prevent it. Like I said, it's
with long term use.
I had the Depo years ago and absolutely
loved it. AF went away completely and I
had little to no side effects. It takes a
long time to get out of your system
though, so if you think you are going to
ttc in the next couple of years it may not
be the option for you.
On the other hand someone else I know went
on iDepo 3 months ago and she has bled the
whole time.
My sister recommends the IUD and says her
hubby never felt the wire. I have heard
excellent things about Yaz. There are so
many options, I'm so glad I don't have to
think about it anymore.

I was on Ortho-Cyclene (I think) It's been
years since I've been on any b/c. That's
the only one I've ever used, and I didn't
have any side effects. The first day I
took it, I got sick....I don't remember
why tho.
I think I'd look into different b/c if I
were you too, it doesn't sound like it's
working well for you

Wow, I think it would definately be a good
idea to switch.
I'm on loestrin 24 and I hate it tho! I
have my period for like three weeks and
then only one week off! So I wouldn't
recommend it at all. I'm actually going
to be talking to the dr. about switching
mine soon so to.

After our next baby, I think I'm going to
ask for an IUD. Or is it called something
else? Anyway, the non-hormonal kind.

my friend and me both have the mirena. so
far she has bled heavily since she got it
inserted , she finished her period the
week before she got it put in. She has
horrid cramps too but she refuses to have
it removed, when i read online it said
that for like the first month u can try
taking ibuprofen for the pain and its
supposed to help lessen the bleeding , but
who k nows. I was on estrostep wich i
loved i had no problems at all with it.
then ive takin trinessa but tht made me
crazy and then i was on loestrin 28 wich
worked out well besides the fact i had
trouble remembering it every day and now i
have mirena, wich so far ive had zero
problems with so i guess i got lucky.
