I know what it means in a way, but can anyone explain it properly for me please? Is that true and does it mean its dangerous for your brain? Long term or short term damage? etc?

It also affects your sleep cycle and can cause major insomnia. It was horrible when my ED was bad. Once I went 3 days without sleeping. That was absolute hell.

It can also start intensifying repetitive/negative thoughts, and yes, the PP is correct, your concentration really does suffer. It makes it easier and easier to rationalize anorexia to yourself and your habits; looking back now I have no idea how I could have tortured myself so much (overexercise, starving, etc.).

It increases feelings of hopelessness & depression & thoughts of self-harming too.

For me, everything got much better after recovery and once my weight and eating stabilized. I still have aspects of OCD in my life but do think I was slightly OCD before the ED too, so I'm not sure I can blame that on anorexia.

So since when you starve yourself, you're "starving your brain" also.. does that mean that you're not as smart as before.. like would it affect you in school? i'm not doing as well as i used to in the past.. and i find it harder to concentrate. would that have to do with it?

Sure, it happens. That was one reason that lead me to stop.

YES.
Its not only during the starving time, either. Months after I started eating a enough, I still couldnt concentrate or think as well. Its like my brain was literally not as strong. It is a muscle. (im pretty sure. lol. any case, it needs food.)
Even now, I think im not as smart as I would have been if I hadnt starved myself.
YOu need so much more food than you realize....just to keep to alive and working.
when you starve yourself, your metabolism slows down majorly-- it thinks there's a famine, and doesnt want your body to die.
I was maintaining at 1200 cals, and even gaining, but then I increased to 2000 (gradually, over a few weeks) and I LOST weight.
That's just what I mean. You need so much food- its different for everyone- just to LAY IN BED ALL DAY. on top of that, you need even more.

Good luck beating this, I know it's hard. Love life, and jump in.
t will always be there, but if you deal with it, instead of ignoring it, it becomes easier. Your body is the only one you'll ever have.
