Sudden Attacks of Nausea, Hand Parathesia, Abdominal Pain
Posted: 10-01-07 06:24am

I'm searching for any suggestions on possible cause of intense, intermittent attacks. I very suddenly become aware of an unpleasant sensation in my head. It's not painful, but it makes me feel very queer. Almost like a build up of pressure in my head. My face feels warm, my eyes feel as if they are bulging and become very blood shot and my face and neck go bright red.

I feel intensely nauseous, often severe enough to make me vomit within a few mins of onset. I get palpitations and can feel a pulse like blood being pumped to my head. My stomach at this point is perfectly fine and not to blame for the sickness, the vomiting seems to be induced by the sensation in my head.

It is also always accompanied by a strong stinging/itching to my hands. The back of my head can feel sensitive, perhaps due to the heat, which can make it itch.

It often occurs in the early hours of the morning and will wake me from sleeping.

All this lasts approx 15 to 20 mins, and as it starts to deminish the abdominal pain starts. Low and central in my stomach - a constant almost burning but intense pain, with very short waves to it. This lasts about an hour in response to Ibruprofen. It is sometimes then followed by a slight spotting of vaginal blood, but not everytime.

When the attacks started they were every 2 or 3 months, but in the last 6 months have become more frequent – the last 2 were only 3 days apart. Only one of these was followed by spotting.

Although the intense sensation at it's worst is only with me for approx 20 mins, it leaves me very drained and week for 24 hours.

My GP ordered several blood test and a 24 hr urine test which came back normal. My last smeer was also normal. After the last attack with excruciating pain and 3 days of bleeding I was sent to gynacologist. Examination and abdominal scan all came back normal so Neurological investigations have now been recommended.

I don't know whether it's connected but a few days ago I noticed a couple of spots of numbness in my right leg. Last couple of days this has turned to a burning sensation, like sunburn, to my outer calf, top of foot and thigh.

It's beginning to drive me to distraction that I can't find anything that relates all these symptoms, so any suggestions on where I should be heading would be most appreciated.
