I Had My Arthrocentesis Today! Posted: 10-01-07 22:26pm
I am now awake, after speding the rest of
my day sleeping in pain.
When I got to the office my jaw could open
25mm. Now it can open 38mm. I am very
happy.
I am also very sore and on lots of meds.
I go back thursday to get my stiches out
and I assume discuss what we do next.
I was pretty out of it when I woke up so I
didn't really ask any questions. And now
I wish I had, but it's ok I will see him
Thursday. Until then I am just resting
and taking the pain meds.
A warning to anyone getting a procedure
that hasn't been put out before... when
you wake up and you feel fine, but numb...
get those pain meds asap... while i was
waiting in cvs for my prescription, the
numbness wore off and it felt like i was
hit in the head with a hammer!!!
thankfully once i got home the pills
worked pretty quickly.
ill keep you all posted on what i get done
next. i believe ill be fit for a splint,
but again, i didn't ask much today because
i was so out of it!!! hah.

I got my stitches out, a breeze.
I am going back next Thursday to get
fitted for my splint. Boo hoo. Hopefully
that will make things even better.
I am still slightly frustrated. Mostly
because I was offered my cruise ship job
and am supposed to leave Nov. 17th... I
really want to go.
We will just have to see how things turn
out after he sees my MRI that I am getting
today and after wearing the splint for a
lil while...

Hi Messicamouse,
I hope and pray that you will continue to
heal well. Don't stress out - that might
make you clench or grind your teeth.
Relax. A cruise job awaits you.
God bless...

Thank you! I am trying to relax. Luckily
(well not really) this past week was my
vacation... so I had to whole week to
recoup after the procedure and just
relax... of course it would've been nice
to FINALLY get to use all that sick time I
have earned over the years (250 hours that
I will never get to touch). It is odd
that all this happened the week of my
vacation time I scheduled over a month
ago.
But yes. Hopefully I will still get to go
on my cruise... I am supposed to start
november 16th. I am getting fit for my
splint next Thursday so I imagine I would
get in the splint the following week...
and hopefully... with only about 4 weeks
until I leave at that point... there will
be positive progress and I will be able to
go with no problems.
I am trying to keep a positive outlook. I
really don't want this to make me stay
home
Of course the health insurance issue might
make me stay home... but thats a whole
other can of worms I am trying to figure
out. Blech.

Mri/splint Posted: 10-11-07 10:38am
Well I just got back from the doctor. I
had my impressions for the splint so now
my jaw is sore!! And I got my results
from the MRI:
Anterior dislocation of the disc without
reduction on the right side and anterior
subluxation of the disc with reduction on
the left side.
So I will be getting my splint next
Thursday and I will wear it for 2 weeks
and then go back to see what progress (if
any) has been made. Hopefully... I will
be in good shape for my trip which is in
just about a month.
