I have been on ortho evra for a little
over a year now and I have become very
depressed, moody, and my sex drive has
basically disappeared, i'm 19. Has anyone
else had these problems with the patch?
And has anyone stopped the patch and
returned to normal? Thanks

The patch, just like the pill can have
those effects. Try talking to your
doctor about going on the pill. A pill
with different hormonal levels that will
not have this affect on you.

I've been on the patch for less than a
month and have become depressed (and manic
some days) but am going to try and stick
it out. I know my life is great right now
and I have no reason to be sad. I've been
through much worse depression before so
i'm going to resort to yoga, meditation,
and high energy foods to keep with it. If
I had started the patch at different times
in my life, it might have have been a
little tougher. Reduce the stress in your
life and do your best to keep the monster
thoughts away. My boyfriend is a big
help.. He knows when i'm getting sad and
he handles it a lot better than my ex
did.. Helps me stay grounded.

There is no point in "sticking it out"
when you can get rid of it. I would talk
to your doctor about going on a pill
instead of the patch with hormonal levels
that your body responds positively to.
There is not point in suffering it out,
because if it has that affect on you it is
not ever going to just go away.

I've been on tri cyclen and diane 35
before and both result in depression for
me. If it were up to me alone, I wouldn't
be on birth control at all. I've been
doing well as of lately in controlling my
moods and if I fall back into depression
as a result of birth control again than I
just wont take any at all.

Well it is up to you. There are a lot of
more brands besides the above two you
mentioned. I tried eight different ones
before I found one that did not give me
side effects. Ortho trycyclen is the
same hormones that are found in the patch.
Since there is only one patch as of now.
But, if you don't want to be on it at all
then it isn't worth the suffering. I
just hate to see you suffer it out for no
reason.
