Why is my total cholesterol considered borderline high? Posted: 10-04-07 04:35am
Just had my cholesterol tested here in
Europe and I'm little confused about the
results. Here they are:
HDL 86.07 mg/dl
LDL 97.26 mg/dl
Triglicerides 113.63
According to what I read online all of
these are optimal.
Than why is my total cholesterol
considered borderline high??
The number is 205.34
It does not make sense to me.
Would someone please explain??
Thank you very much

Have you checked your blood cholesterol
levels as a routine follow up or you have
experienced some hearth problems?
HDL of 86.07 mg/dl is high and gives
protection against heart disease.
LDL 97.26 mg/dl is optimal and your
triglicerides are normal.
Total cholesterol 205.34 in range
200–239 mg/dL is considered as
Borderline-High Risk total cholesterol.
Your border-line cholesterol is balanced
by high HDL(good) cholesterol.
Have you thought of lifestyle changes like
eating a heart-healthy diet, getting
regular physical activity and avoiding
tobacco smoke?
Have you asked your doctor how often you
should have your cholesterol rechecked?
