Is Bump / Blister On the Roof of My Mouth Herpes ?
Posted: 10-05-07 15:51pm

Hello, I'm waiting for an appointment with a doctor, but I'm hoping one of you may be able to assuage my fear of herpes. 7 weeks ago, a period of time when I was having unprotected oral sex with a questionable partner, I began having a sore throat, which lasted about 2 weeks. 5 weeks ago the roof of my mouth became painful and swollen. After two days the blister burst and some fluid came out. After that, the blister was no longer painful and shrank to about half the size. It is now smooth and elongated, sort of vein shaped, and is at most an inch long. There is no discoloration, no pain and it is not an open sore. Nonetheless, it's still freaking me out. I plan to go to a doctor, but I want to know if I should avoid the new guy I'm dating so I don't pass along my new fun ailment. Thoughts? Comfort? Could this be herpes?

You are doing the correct thing by planning to visit your doctor as only he/she can give you an authoritative answer.

However, before I jumped to the conclusion of herpes I would be giving consideration to other possibilities such as an ulcerated throat and mouth which can cause pain for an extended period of time.
