Please, if anyone is reading this my
husband and I desperatly want to
adopt a newborn-2 yrs. We have money to
raise a child in a loving and stable home,
but we don't have the 15,000 to pay a
agency. I am a 31 yr old and my husband
and I have been married 9 yrs but together
14.
We have 1 son who is 7 yrs old and always
dreamed of 2 children. We
tryed for a few years to have another baby
but at the age of 29 I had to
have a complete hysterectomy so if someone
has advice or you can help
complete my family let me know ASAP!!!!!
Thanks, Marisa

Depending on what state you live in, you
should try the Social Services route.
These kids are taken away from thier
biological parents and placed in a system
where they sometimes never get adopted. We
have gone this route, as well as many of
our friends...we are blessed with children
now. Many children are also placed in a
program known as Wednesdays Child and the
news will show their profile, but they are
usually older than your request of under
two. Just remember, a difference in the
life of a child out ways the difference it
will make in your life. Adopting a child
out of the state system is a reward beyond
belief! You could be saving a child while
fulfilling your own desires.
Best wishes on your growing family!

Marisa,
We adopted out of California! If you want
to email me any questions, I would be
happy to help. We have 4 sets of friends
whom have also adopted out of CA, an
adoption worker friend and I know of an
advocate if you ever needed one. The
system in CA is like all others, flawed,
but at least CA has the 18 month rule
which has set out to have children placed
on a path of adoption once termination of
rights has been established.
My heart goes out to you!

What county are you in? The advocate will
only help ONCE you have petitioned to
adopt. The first step is contacting your
county adoption agency...usually you can
get the information from Dept of Social
Services. You will need to take an
orientation first...they set this up to
give you information and ensure this is
the path you want to take. After the
orientation you will take your FOst-Adopt
classes. Every adult whom lives in your
household will need to attend these
classes. They were 20 hours worth of
classes in CA before, but we have been in
classes up to 30 hours in other states.
They are not bad though...they are
sometimes spred out like 4 hours twice a
week or sometimes you can take crash
courses that are 16 hours in one weekend.
After your classes, you'll get your
certificate to operate a licensed home (as
long as your home passes
inspection...which I can give you details
if you want...but it is nothing to stress
on!) which will open the doors for
placement. You can then let your adoption
worker know if you want to do Foster care
with eligibility to adopt or strictly
looking for children who's parental rights
have been terminated. We were lucky and
went Fost/Adopt and were able to adopt an
infant...termination of rights was around
1 year and adoption finalized at just
before age 2.
