Okay No Fair.

I went to the doctor with Rowan yesterday because she had been up all night coughing really badly. She's had a cold for three days (well three days counting today) but she adding this awful sounding cough to it and wasn't sleeping at all. It sounded so raspy and weezy.

I take her to the doctor, and her examination I am told she basically has ashma. I don't know if he used the word "ashma". Well, he says it will most likely be triggered each time she gets sick, like a cold or something. He prescribed a puffer and I have to get a ventilator (I think it's called) with a little mask to help her breath whenever it's triggered.

He says sometimes this goes away when kids are around 7ish.

Mostly I don't think this is fair. I have friends that smoked with pregnant, friends that smoke around their babies, and in their homes. I have never done any of those things. Why are their babies fine and healthy? I dealt with colic for the first 4 months of her life and now there is something else wrong, and I just feel frustrated and like it's totally unfair.

I just don't want to see my little baby using a mask and ventilator to help her breath. Not fair not fair.

ughhhhh. In other news me and Nathan have most things moved our apartment. Today we moved in our couches, tv, entertainment system, kitchen table, computer desk, end tables, a little cabinet thing, all on our own! We moved in other things too like dishes and such, but I'm proud of those first things because they are so big and heavy and we did it all by ourselves. I also put a bunch of those styrofoam floor puzzle pieces in the corner of the living room with Rowan's tent and her toys on it so that she has her own little area to play, and it looks pretty cute. We just have to move the crib and the bed there, and other little things. I'll be staying there so much by myself because Nathan works many nights 10 pm until 7 am, and I'm sort of scared of being home alone, so I'll see how that goes.

Nathan took me and Rowan to the clinic yesterday, and spent his Thanksgiving Sunday sitting there waiting with us, and then offered to come in with me while Rowan got checked out, and I think those are very sweet gestures on his part...

My lap top died and I don't have my power cords here, but as soon as I get that I'll charge it and post some new pictures.

***Edit***
Oh, and if anyone has any advice or information on conditions that are like what Rowan has please let me know! I don't know much about what is going on, but I wasn't really thinking to ask lots of questions while I was at the doctor's. I was more concentrated on that gross sinking feeling.

I'm sure it will okay. Nathan had to use a mask thingy for his ashma when he was younger, and it went away.

I'm pretty sure Sarah (Reese's mom) mentioned needing one at some point too.

I just don't know much about it, and didn't think it could happen to a 9 month old.

Thanks girls : )

I don't think he used the word ashma, but he described ashmatic symptoms. Her puffer says "bronchodilator for oral inhalation".

Just some quick reserach shows me that a bronchodilator is used for both conditions.

Bri had it when she was young and it went away when she was around 8. What really helped is when she'd get into a coughing fit (she sounded like a seal) I would take her outside into the cool air or into a steamy bathroom.
I can still hear that croopy sounding hacking. Ugh I hated that.

Bad things happen to good people. Sorry Crying

I'm sorry to hear that, Tanya.. I hope Rowan gets better soon Sad

My nephew Alex has asthma. Well, the doctors didn't want to use that word at first, but it's since been confirmed. He has to use an inhaler twice a day, which he used to HATE.. my sister had to hold him down & hold it against his face til he'd breathed enough of it in & he screamed.. it was awful to watch. But then she decided to stop fighting him, & it worked. She let him play with it & showed him what to do, & for a while now he's used it by himself. He knows he's being clever by not causing a fuss, so will happily do it. I hope Rowan is ok with hers.

my oldest and youngest use the nebulizer more so my youngest now my oldest has improved she is 10 now but not to worry it isnt as bad as you may think.
just dont use any menthol rubs or baths that opens up their lungs to the cold and they can get pnumonia and also aggrivates lungs to have to use the nebulizer found that out from a trip to er when my son was 1yr old but now he only uses neb when it is verry cold out and there is colds flues going around at his school. you are a strong mom tanya you got thru colic and that is rugh my 2 child had that so if you got thru that you can pretty much get thru anything hun.
