Prune Mayhem!!!! Posted: 10-10-07 12:12pm
Wow...so on Sunday, Oni was constipated.
She LOVES prunes, so I decided (on Mon) to
give her some.
She had a couple after breakfast, after
lunch, and before bed. Probably 8/9 in
total.
Well yesterday, she woke up from her nap
and had a HUUUGE poopy diaper that was
basically all prunes. She was running
around like normal and screeching because
I was chasing her.
So, I made our lunch and brough it to the
living room.
I put her in her chair and after maybe ONE
bite of her food she started grabbing her
stomach and SCREAMING bloody hell!!
I took her out of her chair and let her
sit next to me to eat. That didn't last.
She wound up on the FLOOR, grabbing her
belly, SCREAMING!
I didn't want to call Baron cuz I didn't
want HIM to panic.(he's GREAT at that!
lol)
About 5 mins went by, and she was PERFECT.
When all of a sudden she grabbed her
stomach AGAIN and started screaming!! So I
called Baron.
He came home and was FREAKING out at how
she was acting. It just wasn't normal.
Now, I had ALL kinds of things storming
through my head as to what could be wrong.
All from the prunes literally RIPPING her
gut open. To her swallowing a nickel
(which is ODD because she ALWAYS gives me
money that she comes across...but she IS a
baby...)
Now, a good 5 hours has gone by and she's
been sporatically grabbing her tummy and
screaming/crying (but acting TOTALLY
normal in between). So I KNEW it was going
to be a looooong night.
Before we went to bed I told Baron that
she was acting like she had cramps. Poop
cramps. I assume the prunes stimulated her
gut to quickly (something like harsh
suppositories would cause), and made her
intestines spasm and cause her pain.
She's totally fine today. So I really
think the prunes were the problem.
Anyone think I'm crazy? Or do you think I
could be right about the prunes. It was
the ONLY thing different!

Wow, That sounds crazy. I would have to
think that it would be the prunes that
would cause her that much pain just like
if an adult takes a laxative. Im sorry
she had to go through that much pain. I
bet it was hurting you watching her just
as much as it was hurting her. Poor Oni.
I was going to send you a message because
I don't see you on here to much anymore,
but I just met someone yesterday and her
name was Oni. I have never met someone
with that name and it totally fit this
lady. She was very smart and sofisticated
and had a good head on her sholders. Now
I know two people named Oni.

Prunes. I'm glad they
worked on the poo. My daughter had poo
issues and it was difficult for about 2
years. Thankfully she
outgrew that.
Maybe fewer prunes next time would help
without causing the cramps.
I hope you find what works for you guys!

Kayoni? As I've googled the name and it's
actually quite popular in the states!

Nancy, I normally cut them up for her. But
Monday, I don't know what I was
thinking!!!
I'll never just give them to her whole
like that again.
I'm a HUGE advocate of prunes...just not
in excess!! lol!
