Frustrated Posted: 10-11-07 16:24pm
My husband and I just started ttc, but I'm
already completely obsessed and wrapped
up in it. I've taken 4, yes 4 pregnancy
tests and I'm not due to start until the
14th. I haven't been charting my temp
(I'm REALLY bad with that kind of thing
and find it insatiably complicated), but
I've been trying to calculate my ovulation
dates based on my periods. We BDed about
every other day beginning about 7 days
before I was supposed to ovulate and
following that date for about 4 days.
I've been having weird abdominal
sensations (kind of like butterflies), and
some mild to moderate cramping for the
past 2 weeks or so. My breasts are
tender, but they usually are a pms symptom
for me. I'm just so frustrated! I know
that I don't really get to be, since this
is our first time trying, but I was so
hopeful and so excited. And when I think
about af's arrival, I practically break
into tears. I've been overly-emotional
lately, which I thought could be a sign of
pregnancy, but I'm starting to think it's
just because I've been wanting this so
badly. Also, for the past week or so,
I've been feeling like AF was about to
happen any second...rushing to the
bathroom because I was sure it started.
Any thoughts?

I should probably add that we've been "not
being careful" for a few months now.
After realizing that that wasn't working
for us, we started really trying (tracking
ovulation, etc).

You can also track your cervical mucus.
If you have egg white consistancy then you
are at your most fertile time. Try to bd
around that time.
Good Luck and tons of BABY DUST

I totally understand your frustration!
This was the first month trying for my
fiance and I as well, and I was totally
freaked out when, after we BD'd every
night since my last period and I was
having cramping along with sore breasts,
dumb old af showed up yesterday. It's a
frustrating process, for sure. So I'm
definitely in the same boat as you...it
totally sucks having to wait to test!
I keep reading and hearing from people
that if you just try to relax and enjoy
the process, your body is more apt to do
it's job and make a baby. (Easy for them
to say!) But, I figure it's worth a shot,
so at this point, even though it's still
always on my mind, I'm just going to hang
in there and enjoy the ride. Good luck -
lots of baby dust to you!!

Thank you! You too!
As for cervical mucus...thank you. I'll
start keeping track of that.

I try to pick up new hobbies during ttc.
It helps distract me from the stress of
figuring out when I'm going to ovulate and
the two week wait.
Just curious, what are you doing to track
ovulation?
After two cycles of bding mid-cycle, I
started using opks. After two more
cycles, I started temping. When I started
temping, I started tracking on ff. It
took a bit longer to figure out the cm and
I still am not an expert on the cervical
position. I haven't tried any of the
ferning stuff.

I've just really been keeping track of my
menstrual cycle...counting back 14 days,
using ovulation calculators, etc. My
period has been like clockwork for the
past year, so I know that I'm extremely
regular. I've pretty much been relying on
ovulation calculators, and determining
when my next period should start, and
counting backward to find my most fertile
days. Not very scientific, but I was
hoping that it would work right away, and
I wouldn't have to do much else. =) Guess
I was wrong. I've *kind* of been paying
attention to cm, but I find it very
complicated. I have cm all the time - I
never have a "dry time." It's been like
that since I was 8. Because of this, and
the fact that it's always about the same
color and consistency, I find it very
difficult to use that method. I don't
know. I think next month I'll try opks.

I also went through a stage where I had to
track my ovulation and temps for a long
time... but frankly baby making becomes a
job... there's no real passion
"get-lost-in-each-other-real-hot-sex".
This can take a toll on us women. It's
not only your 'job' to check these things.
1.Try putting a pillow under your bum
while being naughty (laying oin your
back.)
2.Don't get up afterward... (I know it's
messy, but these things are suppoesed to
be messy)
3.Tell him to have a COLD shower Before...
(this is 'tadpole' excercise)
4.When he goes to sleep at night... NO
undies (the constriction adds to the no
proper sperm production)
5.Keep track of your diet (for acid
levels..., that kill off sprem)
6.Most importantly RELAX!
Try having an evening (or morning
whichever the case may be) where you have
a glass of wine... or more, relax, have
sexy talk, flirty talk, let nature take
it's course. Take it slow, don't rush it.
Importantly, you have to be able to cm to
'suck in some sperm'.
