My Neighbor the Azalia Killer....dun...dun...dun

I am sooooo mad!!!! Twisted Evil evil

So my neighbor is an older lady that never does anything with her yard except when her son comes over to mow. No big deal. Our houses back up to a small creek with some wooded areas in the backyard. There are a few tree clusters with some other small growth that covers half the backyard. This past weekend, they decided to put up a fence in their backyard and have bushhogged (or whatever you call it) the wooded areas and graded their yard...Totally fine...Well today I come home and go outside to water my herb garden and my azalias, and they are gone. I just planted them this spring, so they are not that big, but I planted them and was looking forward to them growing big and pretty.

Well our neighbor (or whoever has done their work) decided that they would take it upon themselves to clear out our wooded area. They didn't do a real great job around the trees, but for most of the small growth, they cleared it out to the ground.... And in the processes cut down my azalias...

Now dont get me wrong, as soon as I saw that they had done that to their yard, I told dh that it would be cool to do that to ours when we were ready to fix up the backyard. It does look good, and makes our yard look twice as big....BUT WHO DOES THAT???? Without asking????

I don't know weather or not to be mad or be thankful.

I don't know if the lady was trying to be nice and just did it, or the guy she hired did it on his own, or what. I have no idea!!!!

All I know is that my pretty azalias are gone and all dh could say was...well we can always plant some more!!! Its not the same!

Well it is probably a heck of a lot cheaper to plant azaleas than to pay someone to clear the lot. I would be thankful

This morning I was looking outside and said to dh how big the yard looked now. He said, "If I see that guy out there today, Im going to say something" I told him not to worry about it. Im over my azalias and I can always get more.

And Opal, you're right, it is a heck of a lot cheaper to plant new azalias than to clear the land. We were going to have to rent the equipment to do it anyways.

Im not mad anymore, but it is still really random that they would do that without asking. I think I will just bite my tounge and let a sleaping dog lie.

I think maybe our neighbor was trying to be nice. She is an elderly lady that lives in a 4 bedroom house all by herself. She is actually from the same town that we used to live in in Virginia, so I imagine she was just being nice.

RIP my azalias

Is there a definitive border between the two properties? He could have just gotten confused in the process and not realized what he was doing.

I know what you meant when you said you didn't know whether to be grateful or angry. I get like that sometimes. A lot of times people do things that I was planning to do anyway but they don't ask me first and I get angry. It's like, how do you know that's what I wanted to do? What if I didn't? I usually get over it as long as it was something I was going to wind up doing anyway.

It is pretty obvious where the property lines are. The lots are only 1/4 acres and the houses are right next to each other. So I don't think he thought he was in their backyard when he was behind my house.

I am over it. I was just mad at the time when I saw my azalias gone.

I would, but I feel bad...She is a little old lady that lives by herself.

My dh said that if he sees them working on the fence in the next few days, he will say something to them.

THe sprinkler was given to us anyways, so it wasn't anything special.
