Scared of Something Happening During Labor And Delivery Posted: 10-12-07 21:59pm
Okay this is really stupid, but hey I need
some reassurance from you guys.
This is really stupid because this is my
fifth child and I am all of a sudden
scared that something is going to happen
to me during labor and delivery and my
heart or something will give out and I
will die and leave my children without a
mother. I have had some pounding
sensations in my heart since the 3rd month
of pregnancy, I am now 35 weeks, I was put
on an event monitor and it showed nothing
except a few periods of a fast heart beat
and no other abnormalities. I do have a
panic and anxiety issue and have had for
awhile. Do you guys think that this is
just my mind working overtime and that I
need to calm down??
Sorry to bother you guys with this but I
needed to talk to someone, my D-day is
getting closer as I am already 50% effaced
and 1 1/2 cm dilated and I always deliver
preterm. Thanks for any response you can
give me.

I think it is your anxiety. But I also
think a pregnant woman's heart does have
to beat faster and harder because of the
increased amount of blood.
Have you tried deep breathing techniques?
What has your doctor said about this?

The results of the testing that they done
showed everything to be normal. I guess I
just need to try and stop thinking about
it so much. Thanks for your reply, I was
starting to think that everyone thought I
was nuts because I had not gotten a reply.

Nope, just not a lot of people on here on
Friday nights
You are not nuts. Just anxious. A little
anxiety is normal - but if this is a
problem for you, talk to your doctor about
it.
