So I have really weird periods... like
usually I am really early or just on time
but one month it lasts a day and the next
9 days.
I always have horrible cramps... like the
curl up and cry or die cramps.
I want to get put on birth control because
I've heard it helps regulate and minimize
cramps... First off... is this true?
Secondly I asked my mother if I could and
she flipped out on me.
She said the only reason I want it is
probably because I am having sex or
whatever. But that's not the reason!
What should I do?

Well, first of all, yes, birth control
will control your period and minimize your
cramps. Definitely. Many women take it
for that purpose.
I'd have a heart to heart with your mom-
tell her how you feel, that you really do
just want it for the cramps and you've
heard it helps. Because it does!!! She's
just worried because she wants to protect
you. But if you really sit down and talk
with her about the real reason you want
it, she'll come around. Just focus on the
stuff you just said, that you get really
weird periods and horrible cramps. It
might take you a while but she'll get it.
Good luck!

ALSO...
You do NOT NEED YOUR MOM TO GET BIRTH
CONTROL.
You can go to the doctor and get birth
control without her consent.
You are also technically allowed to have
other services such as abortion, std
testing, etc.. Without her consent.
Planned Parenthood is EXCELLENT for teens,
because they often offer FREE or low cost
services, THAT WAY your parents insurance
does not have to be used.
IF your mom will not understand, you have
to do what is best for you.
