Wait, what? |
Probably should have said foster care. A
lot of kids don't get adopted, and foster
care isn't exactly the greatest way to
raise a child. It's a million times better
than what used to happen, of course.
Or there's the other option, where Mum
looks at the kid with that slow, simmering
feeling of resentment, and thinks 'What
could I have done with my life if you
hadn't screwed it up?'

I understand what you mean by "care" now.
And any mother who looks at her child like
that OBVIOUSLY wouldn't have done anything
with her life, even if she didn't have the
child. People like that are crazy.

So it's better that they die, right?

My answer to this would be tl;dr and go
into my own beliefs which I am pretty sure
you don't share. (Plus, it would take me
forever to word it without sounding
dorky.) Basically, blah blah
reincarnation, blah blah wanted next time
around ramblety ramble...
Given that they wouldn't realise what was
happening or know about it next time, it
wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.
I can agree to disagree on the specifics
of this one, but I do believe that a
boatload of unhappiness should be avoided
if possible.
(It is hard to properly discuss serious
subjects when listening to the soundtrack
of The Muppets Treasure Island. I keep
wanting to mention professional pirates.

katieo, when does it become a child? Is
it at the exact moment that sperm touches
egg?

We want children like we want anything
else. We want them to add to our lives.
It is completely selfish.

It's selfish, but not in a bad way. To
want to start a family, to bring life into
the world. That is why people have
children, for the most part.

I'll have to do some research on this
one.. why do we want children.. all the
various gods know that we've enough people
on this planet that we don't exactly need
to reproduce to keep our species going
right now.. a few could skip this cycle..I
wanted children because I wanted to be a
parent.
I knew I wanted two children before I knew
anything about them. Two is all I had.

I don't think there's anything wrong with
aborting a child so you can stay in
school. Now the mother is more able to get
a good job so when she chooses to have
children, she will be able to support them
and raise healthy, happy, children. That's
the responsible thing to do, in my
opinion.
Anyway, I think I was always vaguely pro
choice, but when I started having sex, and
had a scare (the condom broke) I really
realized that I was pro choice, because in
no way would it have been good for me to
have a child at that time, for me or the
child. That's not selfish- it's realistic.

Huh?? I'm lost.
I was never pregnant, I simply had a
pregnancy scare when I was too young to
have had a child. I took plan b, the whole
thing was avoided.
That's all. I was just explaining when and
how I turned pro choice.
But to answer your question rainfire, some
one somewhere may have felt it was time,
but I didn't, and my opinion is more
important to myself than anyone else's.

Um, back on topic...
I became pro-choice when I realised that
there were actual "sides" and that a
debate actually existed about it! Before
that, I simply knew that it was legal and
that it was the right decision for some
women, and I was okay with that. I didn't
know there were people running around
trying to remove my rights O.o
