Do they know you have had an abortion?

Tell me for what reason you ask? Does it matter?

Well, since your whole point is that you think many of your friends and family members have not aborted, and you said you talk openly about it......

It would seem obvious to me that under those circumstances your friends would know that you have had an abortion, since YOU know that THEY haven't.

My point is, you have no idea if your friends or family members have aborted or not, just as they have no idea if you have aborted or not.

Are you 100% sure of that?
My step sister had an abortion no one knew about until 5 years ago. Her sister drove her to the clinic; she was 'sick' and not able to go to school that day..this was nearly 25 years ago.
My stepfather was amazed; he never suspected this. No one told until one of the female grandchildren became pregnant while in highschool.

I never knew my mother had an abortion until I became sexually active and she told me her "horror" story about unprotected sex. It actually raised my respect for her, even though she's now pro-life because of it (she was forced by her mother to have one). Her mom and I are pretty much the only people on the face of this planet who know. My dad doesn't know, my brother doesn't know. My grandfather suspected however, because several days after my mom was "sick", he said he didn't approve of abortion. That's just how my grandfather was, subtle, calm and strong.

I provided a source for my statistic. I'm sorry you want to be in denial about this.

if everyother women you met had an abortion that would half of all women.. it isn't half.. It's 35%
About half of American women have experienced an unintended pregnancy, and at current rates more than one-third (35%) will have had an abortion by age 45.

The real figure from EVERYWHERE (except one news article that incorrectly quoted its own sources!) is ONE THIRD (1/3) (.66666) Or more accurately, 35% according ti Guttmacher, as she just quoted again.

Whether you like it or not, there are other fact-gathering organizations out there, and they have compiled slightly different statistics. Here is a small sample of published data:

University of Washington

Who chooses an abortion?

Half of all women in the United States will have an abortion in their lifetime.

Religious Tolerance

Almost half of American women (43%) will have an abortion sometime in their lifetime.

University of Michigan

The statistics she integrated into her speech sent gasps of surprise through the audience. Half of all women have an abortion in their lifetime, while two-thirds of these women intend to have children in the future, and Catholics are as likely as all women to have an abortion, according to Bantsimba.

Fox News

Almost half of American women (43 percent) will have an abortion sometime in their lifetime.

Well, if there are all of these sources, then why was she using ONLY Guttmacher and a bunch of other sources that all said 1/3? I wouldn't have debated if she'd used these NEW sources to support her claim, but she wasn't. She was using sources that all said 1/3, what was I to do? I used her own sources to refute what she claimed.

You can't claim 1/2 and then cite sources saying 1/3 and expect me to agree with 1/2.
